BMW 4 Series Production Cars Seen in Public for First Time
Really, when it comes to discussing the BMW 4 Series, it all starts with its design. To say that its design is polarizing would be a gross understatement. There seem to be huge portions of the BMW fanbase that genuinely can’t stand this new design, as we’ve seen such outrage in our comments section, social media pages and forums. However, we tend to reserve final judgement until after we’ve seen the car in the flesh and been able to get up close and personal with it.
SPIED: Next-Gen BMW X1 Spied in Heavy Camouflage
Personally, I’ll always have some love for the BMW X1. That may sound heretical to many BMW purists but the X1 will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the first car I’ve ever driven on a press launch and it was still one of the most memorable drives of my life. So as much as the X1 isn’t a “proper” BMW, it’s a special one to me. Which is why I’m so personally excited about a new generation of X1, which has just been seen doing some camouflaged testing.
SPIED: 2021 BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe (G26) scooped at Nurburgring
The forthcoming BMW G26 4 Series will also spawn the very first purely electric Gran Coupe model, expected to launch in 2021. The second generation of the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe is quite a rare sight among spy photographers. The all-electric BMW i4 has often been caught during the road development phase, whereas the ICE-powered version of the G26 haven’t been spotted since September 2019.
VIDEO: 2021 BMW M5 LCI featured in Aventurine Red metallic on the Ring
A lightly camouflaged 2021 BMW M5 LCI finished in Aventurine Red metallic was recently spotted covering some fast laps on the Nurburgring Nordschleife track in Germany. We’ve already reported that the new 5 Series LCI generation will premiere some new paintworks and options, among which we’ll also find the elegant BMW Individual Aventurine Red metallic. Special BMW M550i xDrive in Aventurine Red metallic and AC Schnitzer parts at the Abu Dhabi showroom.
SPIED: BMW M5 LCI seen at the Nurburgring in Camouflage
Now that we’ve already seen some leaked photos of the upcoming BMW 5 Series LCI, it’s time to turn our attention to the most exciting version of it — the BMW M5. The current F90 M5 is an astonishing thing and one of the very best M5s ever made. So the idea of it getting even better looking, an even nicer interior and potentially a mechanical tweak or two is very exciting. In some new spy photos, we get to see a camouflaged BMW M5 LCI (facelift) doing some hot laps at the Nurburgring.
[To publish] SPIED: 2021 BMW M5 CS spotted with minimal cladding
Spy photographers have recently caught what looks to be a FEP prototype of the new 2021 BMW M5 CS. The CS will be a new addition to the M5 lineup right in time for the refreshed LCI generation. A minimally camouflaged test vehicle of the forthcoming M5 CS was recently scooped in Germany (We don’t own the spy photos but you can see them here).
SPIED: The 2021 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer shows up again
BMW continues the road development for its second generation 2 Series Active Tourer, slated for a 2021 premiere. The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer was the first MPV of the Bavarians when it was officially introduced back in 2014. Now, a new generation of the compact people carrier is underway and it is programmed to kick in by next year. The larger Gran Tourer version will be discontinued, with the future 2 Series Active Tourer expected to grow a bit in overall size to make for that demise.
SPIED: 2021 BMW 5 Series Touring PHEV appears on camera
Spy photographers have recently captured a camouflaged plug-in hybrid BMW 5 Series Touring LCI, set to go on sale this year as a 2021 model. We already know what the LCI 5 Series Sedan will look like, thanks the last week’s “leaks” detailed by us here and here. Until the scheduled online reveal takes place towards end of May, the G30/G31 LCI test prototypes continue the on-road FEP undeterred.
2021 BMW i4 enters FEP, scooped lightly camo'ed
The 2021 BMW i4 has got rid of the heavy cladding and now wears only minimal camouflage as the prototypes enters the final experimental phase (FEP) ahead of next year’s reveal. (Photos here) The first-ever i4 electric Gran Coupe is developed on the G26 4 Series platform and promises to achieve an outstanding driving range of at least 373 miles / 600 kilometers (calculated as per WLTP).
SPIED: BMW X2 LCI Coming in 2021 with New Grilles
Among enthusiasts, the BMW X2 isn’t the most beloved Bimmer in the brand’s stable. Its funky looks, front-wheel drive layout and lack of any sort of real practicality make it a bit of a punching bag for the BMW faithful. However, customers seem to like it more than die-hard enthusiasts, as it’s selling surprisingly well. Of course, that means it’s going to get its mid-cycle facelift (LCI, as BMW calls it), to keep it looking fresh, as seen in these new spy photos.
SPIED: BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Interior seen with new console
Quite possibly the most forgotten and un-loved BMW on sale at the moment is the 2 Series Active Tourer. While not actually a bad car, as it does exactly what it’s supposed to do and does it well, it’s not one that enthusiasts seem to care about at all. However, despite it not being very exciting and/or popular, it’s getting another generation and we can see the next-gen 2er AT in these new spy photos.
SPIED: 2020 BMW 4 Series Coupe seen with M Performance Parts
As we near the official reveal of the next-gen 2020 BMW 4 Series, we’re seeing a seemingly never-ending stream of spy photos. While most of the test mules spotted in public have been heavily covered in camouflage, we’ve seen enough here and there to piece together what we think the next-gen 4er will look like. From what we’ve seen so far, the car’s overall design seems quite nice and we’re excited to see it.
SPIED: BMW 4 Series Convertible seen with Top Up and Down
It seems as if we can’t escape 4 Series news as of late. Be it renderings, spy photos or concept art, the next-gen 4er seems to be monopolizing the automotive section of the internet, for better or worse. In these new spy photos, we get to see the next-gen 4 Series Convertible doing some testing at the ‘Ring. (We don’t own the photos but check them here) At the famed Nurburgring, we see what seems to be a BMW M440i Convertible doing some hot lats in full camouflage.
SPIED: 2021 G82 BMW M4 Competition Interior Spotted for First Time
We’re in a very small minority among BMW enthusiasts in that we aren’t all doom and gloom about the upcoming BMW M4 and its grille design. Is it going to be polarizing? Sure. Is it going to be horrific, as some fans are already claiming it to be? Probably not. However, I will say this — the rest of it is going to look damn good, as evidenced by these new spy photos.
SPIED: Best scoops of the 2021 BMW 4 Series Coupe (G22) yet
The newest set of spy shots with the forthcoming G22 2021 BMW 4 Series are the most revealing to date, with outer camouflage having been peeled off quite consistently. In the latest scoops (which you can see here), the new 4 Series Coupe reveals a few more details than before. We can now clearly judge the proportions of the body as the exterior cladding is pretty much off. By now, the prototypes have entered the final experimental phase.
SPIED: BMW 4 Series Convertible seen showing off its new grille
Over the past few years, BMW has made a number of controversial decisions — the move to all-wheel drive for M cars, a front-wheel drive 2 Series and a even ditching the dual-clutch transmission. Through all of those decisions, fans have stuck with BMW, even if they’ve been disappointed. However, nothing has aggravated the fanbase like the new grille design on the upcoming 4 Series. In some new spy photos, we see the 4 Series Convertible and its new grille design quite clearly.
SPIED: 2021 BMW M440i xDrive Convertible reveals more in new scoop
New spy shots depicting the open-top 2021 BMW M440i xDrive have recently surfaced online. And yes, the huge kidney grille is there. One has to admit that the styling exercise for the new 4 Series is pretty daring and highly polarizing. The G22/G23/G26 family will definitely look massive. Back to the Convertible version, which was recently spotted in Germany (you can see the photos here).
SPIED: G30 BMW 5 Series LCI Facelift seen testing yet again
While we’re all self-quarantined (or at least we hope you are), it’s good to see photos of the outside world. In some of those photos, it’s nice to see some cool cars, including cars that haven’t been revealed yet. For instance, these new spy photos show off the upcoming G30 BMW 5 Series LCI Facelift doing some more pre-production testing. So far so good, to be honest. While the G30 is becoming one of the more handsome BMWs on sale to begin with and it’s only going to get better with the LCI.
SPIED: 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost seen having a snow day
Initially, the next-gen Rolls-Royce Ghost was set to make its debut this summer, with global press drives having already been planned. Personally, I was excited about it, as we would have been among the first to both see and drive the next-gen Ghost, which is showing a ton of promise. However, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus that’s turned the entire planet on its head, it doesn’t see as if that’s going to happen. So spy photos like these just bum me out.
SPIED: 2021 BMW M440i xDrive Coupe (G22) scooped flaunting its huge snout
New sighting of the 2021 4 Series Coupe (G22), as two M440i test prototypes are spotted in Germany. Recent spy shots (which you can see here) from Germany reveal more details of the exterior design of the 2021 BMW 4 Series Coupe. The main controversy point of the forthcoming G22 model series will be its massive kidney grille.
SPIED: 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible scooped again with its soft-top down
The 2021 BMW 4 Series Convertible has been recently spied in the Arctic region flaunting its open-top silhouette, with the cloth roof down. Yet, we are still months away the premiere of the new 4 Series generation (G2x). The first to appear is the Coupe (G22), programmed for mid-2020, with the Convertible (G22) to follow after during Fall.
SPIED: Which BMW 7 Series test mule is this one?
The next-generation BMW 7 Series is about two years away from its debut. The design was finalized last year and testing is under way. But some publications might have jumped the gun today when a new set of spy photos came out. And everyone is keen on believing that BMW is testing some hidden features under the sheet of the current G12 generation. But according to our sources, this is still very much so the current 7 Series limousine which is likely to get a very mild facelift this year.
SPIED: BMW 4 Series Convertible Looking More Production-Ready
Each and every time we check out some spy photos of the new BMW 4 Series, in any variation, the focal point is on its new grille design. After seeing the BMW Concept 4, enthusiasts have been extremely curious (worried?) about whether or not the next-gen 4 Series will have the concept car’s grille. We know that it will, and have said so consistently, but there are still some enthusiasts holding out hope that we’re wrong. Unfortunately for them, these new spy photos prove us right.
2021 BMW 5 Series Facelift (LCI) rendered before its unveil
The 2021 BMW 5 Series Facelift will be unveiled this Summer, so it’s only natural that rendering artists from around the world are trying to predict its design. This new rendering is based on recent spy photos and shows some mild changes to the front fascia of the 5 Series. There is a set of redesigned headlights, slightly slimmer than before, while the M Sport Package also gets restyled.
SPIED: 2021 BMW iX3 uncovers more subtle details
As the official unveiling approaches, 2021 BMW iX3 prototypes are shedding off more and more camouflage to reveal new design details. The forthcoming BMW iX3 is marching on with its cold weather testing program in the Arctic region. Lately, photographers were able to scoop two lightly camouflaged prototypes (we don’t own the photos, but you can see them here). Out of the two, one vehicle was equipped with the Aerodynamic Wheels we previously talked about.
SPIED: 2021 MINI Countryman Interior caught with new updates
Along with most of the BMW Group at the moment, the MINI lineup is going through a bit of change as well. Following the launch of the MINI Cooper SE, the brand’s new all-electric hatchback, the 2021 MINI Countryman will be getting a facelift to keep it looking fresh. Some new spy photos have recently surfaced, showing off its slightly updated interior.
SPIED: Upcoming BMW M5 LCI caught winter testing alongside BMW i4
BMW’s been hard at work as of late, developing several new cars and updating the ones it already has. The 2021 BMW M5 LCI (facelift) is an example of the latter, as the brand has been working on an update for its best car for some time now. In these new spy photos, we see the 2021 M5 doing some testing in the snow, alongside an unusual driving partner, the upcoming BMW i4. (We don’t own the spy photos but see them here) Let’s start with the M5 first.
BMW M4 Caught Playing in the Snow -- Big Grille Alert
It’s literally impossible to discuss the upcoming BMW M4 (or its four-door M3 sibling) without at least mentioning its new grille design. As you likely already know, the next-gen M4 will sport a massive set of twin Kidneys up front, with each one being bigger than the combined girth of the last-gen car’s grilles. This new design has divided BMW enthusiasts into two camps, with some thinking the new design will be fine and others (most) claiming it to be the end of civilization as we know it.
SPIED: 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost shows up once again, reveals new dashboard
The future Rolls-Royce Ghost generation is still a few months away from its official unveiling, yet test prototypes are starting to lose some of their exterior cladding. Under the psychedelic camouflage tape, we can already start seeing the overall silhouette of the new Ghost as the latest spy photos reveal (you can see them here).
[To publish] SPIED: The facelifted 2021 MINI Countryman (F60 LCI) spotted near the Arctic Circle
It’s once again that time of the year, as the redesigned 2021 MINI Countryman (F60 LCI) arrives at Arjeplog for the cold weather testing program. The current generation of the Countryman has been around since 2017. The LCI treatment comes to refresh the crossover’s looks and tech, as well as boost customer appeal. Recently, the camouflaged prototypes were deployed in Northern Scandinavia, near the Arctic Circle, where they will endure the harsh weather conditions (you can see the spy shots here).
SPIED: 2021 BMW M4 Coupe (G82) spotted in Germany
After the December shots, these new images showcase the upcoming BMW M4 Coupe (G82) with the final production body design and certain details that depict its high-performance character. Compared to the latest cladding amount on the G22 4 Series, the G82 M4 generation is still hidden under heavy camouflage, with the new hallmark kidney grille being barely visible (you can see the spy photos here).
SPIED: Forthcoming G23 BMW 4 Series Convertible spotted once again
The new generation of the BMW 4 Series Convertible will be premiered this year towards falls. Till then, camouflaged test prototypes are continuing the street experimental phase. The start of production for the upcoming G23 generation of the open-top 4 Series is planned for November 2020, with market launch following shortly thereafter.
SPIED: Rolls-Royce Ghost spotted looking sportier than ever before
We know the next-gen Rolls-Royce Ghost is coming soon, slated for a Summer reveal, so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that more and more spy photos are surfacing. That said, we’re always happy to look at more and see if we can notice any new details. The new photos that have just hit the internet-machine show off a next-gen Ghost doing some camouflaged testing on the Nurburgring, looking sportier than ever before.
SPIED: What is this strange wide-body BMW i3 test mule?
We’ve known for awhile the BMW is keeping the i3 around for a few more years. While it might not be as competitive as BMW might have hoped it’d be at this point, the i3 still sells well enough to warrant its continued production. However, we have no idea what the in the name of Jeebus this wide-body BMW i3 test mule is for.
SPIED: Electric BMW 3 Series test prototype looks a bit intriguing
Some time ago, BMW said it wouldn’t build an electric 3 Series. But it seems plans have changed, if we are to believe the latest spy photos, which indicate that a pure electric 3 Series might be on the way. However, this is not your ordinary 3 Series. Recently, spy photographers scooped what looks to be an early prototype of a future electric 3 Series model out in the wild (you can see the photos here).
VIDEO: BMW 4 Series seen testing at the Nurburgring
We know the next-gen BMW 4 Series is on its way and we know it’s going to be an interesting car. The main point of interest will be its new grille design, which is said to be borrowed from the controversial Concept 4. However, the rest of the car looks extremely promising, with proper proportions and a seemingly pretty design. However, we’ve really only see it in some spy photos, wearing heavy camouflage. Now, there’s a new spy video of the next-gen 4 Series doing some laps of the Nurburgring.
SPIED: BMW 7 Series seen with tweaked headlights for second facelift
When BMW first facelifted the G11 7 Series, its new design was controversial, to put it lightly. Its monstrous grilles seemed to polarize a lot of the fanbase. However, one of the better looking aspects of the fresh-faced 7 Series was its new headlight design. Turns out, BMW seemed to think it could improve on those headlights even further, as it’s just given the car another facial update, which was just caught testing in the wild.
SPIED: Rolls Royce Ghost makes another camouflaged appearance
One of the cars we’re most looking forward to seeing in 2020 isn’t actually a BMW but a Rolls-Royce. The new Cullinan and Phantom have both been revealed already, which leaves the Rolls-Royce Ghost as the next big reveal for the famed British luxury brand. We know that the new Ghost will be built on the same chassis as the Phantom and it will be a bit more luxurious than before. We also now know that it will look better than before, judging by some new spy photos that have just been released.
SPIED: 2020 BMW iX3 spotted, first look at the interior design
Earlier this week, the forthcoming 2020 BMW iX3 electric SAV has been captured while it was stopped for “refueling”. The new BMW iX3 will be the pioneer of the electrified wave of models. It will also be the very first all-electric model to use the fifth generation of the BMW eDrive technology. The high-voltage battery unit with typical prismatic design of the new BMW iX3 is an integral part of the 5th eDrive generation.
SPIED: The 2021 G80 BMW M3 spotted with a manual gearbox
The latest scoop with the G80 M3 clearly shows the manual Pure version, which will eventually become reality. In the latest spy captures (we don’t own the spy photos but you can see them here), we get to see more of the forthcoming M3’s interior. Essentially, one of the prototypes that were recently spotted featured a manual gearbox, which further proves the upcoming “Pure” version for any doubters. Although, we already knew this was coming.
SPIED: 2021 BMW 6 Series GT LCI caught near the Arctic Circle
The LCI model generation of the BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo has recently been caught during road tests carried in Northern Europe. After the BMW 3 Series GT (F34 model generation) got discontinued, the 6 Series GT of the G32 model generation is also facing the axe. Before this happens officially, BMW is set to give the luxury shuttle one final makeover before the inherent dismissal after the current generation. According to some rumors, the US market won’t even receive the LCI model series.
SPIED: Next BMW 2 Series Active Tourer scooped during winter testing
Scheduled for official debut in 2021, the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer has hit the roads near the Arctic Circle for the cold weather testing sessions. The second generation of the 2 Series Active Tourer will sit on the new FAAR front-driven architecture which already underpins the new F40 1 Series and the F44 2 Series Gran Coupe.
SPIED: BMW X2 Plug-in hybrid seen testing in snow
Some new spy photos have recently surfaced, showing off some sort of electrified BMW X2 playing in the snow (we don’t own the photos but you can see them here). The photos have sparked a bit of discussion, as fans are curious about what sort of X2 it actually is. Thankfully, we’re here to sort it out and give you a concrete answer. In these photos, we see a BMW X2 with a bit of camouflage and some unique details. For starters, there’s a charge port door visible on the front fender.
SPIED: Fresh scoop shows more of the 2021 BMW 4 Series Coupe (G22)
The future BMW 4 Series Coupe (G22) is already causing a lot of controversy and debate, as the final car will certainly look a bit shocking. The latest spy photos (we don’t own them, but you can see them here) are the clearest to date. They most likely show a camouflaged M440i version, given the honeycomb pattern of the radiator grille painted in Cerium Grey. The gargantuan kidneys are there, so for those who still cannot believe their eyes, here you have the proof.
SPIED: 2021 BMW M4 Coupe Seen with Huge Kidney Grille
I’m calling it right now — the 2021 (G82) BMW M4 is going to be a good looking car. Yes, it’s going to have a large grille, comically large, and that probably won’t look great. However, the rest of the car is going to look great and it’s going to be enough to make up for its two front beaver teeth. How do I know this? These new spy photos show off an M4 test mule that, even while wearing heavy camouflage, looks great.
SPIED: BMW 6 Series GT Facelift will keep normal sized grille
A couple of years ago, I tested the then-new BMW 6 Series GT. It was a car that, objectively speaking, perfectly fit the needs of its clientele. I found it to be comfortable, incredibly quiet and effortlessly smooth, while also having surprising practicality. Subjectively, I didn’t like it at all but that’s only because it doesn’t fit my personal taste and not because it’s a bad car. To be honest, most of my dislike came from the way it looked.
SPIED: Next-Gen BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Interior seen in new photos
Learning about the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer might not be the most exciting way to spend an evening. However, the fact that some new spy photos have surfaced, showing off the upcoming next-gen BMW 2 Series Active Tourer might actually be more interesting than you might think. That’s because thees photos show off its new interior, which might show an interesting new trend for BMW. (We don’t own the spy photos but see them here) First, though, let’s get the exterior out of the way.
SPIED: BMW M5 Facelift spotted next to current M5
We’ve already seen some new spy photos of the facelifted G30 5 Series and fans rejoiced when they realized it sports normal looking Kidney Grilles. In fact, they’ve barely changed over the pre-facelift car. That face made a lot of BMW fans happy, as they feared the new-face 5er might get the same grilles as the upcoming 4 Series. Those same fans might get some continued relief in knowing that the facelifted BMW M5 will also get a normal grille design, as seen in these new spy photos.
SPIED: BMW 5 Series Facelift seen with M Sport package
Despite being the oldest car in its class, the current G30-generation BMW 5 Series is still highly competitive. Its performance, handling and luxury are still among the best in the segment, even though cars like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6 are much newer. The one area where it does need some updating is its styling, though. It’s still a handsome car but it looks older than the rest of its newer competition.
SPIED: New BMW X2 xDrive25e scooped on streets
After the new X1 LCI generation received its plug-in hybrid variant, BMW will extend the technology to the X2 Sports Activity Coupe as well. Slated for debut next year, the new BMW X2 xDrive25e will mark the entrance of the compact SAC into the world of electrification. The new plug-in hybrid X2 is just one of the many electrified models that BMW is planning to roll out until 2023. The test car that was recently spotted by spy photographers could have easily gone as a standard ICE version.
