Credit where credit's due: India's tokenised bonds must now open the door to global capital
Singapore: On Sept 7, REC raised Rs 500 cr through India’s first pilot issue of tokenised corporate bonds under Sebi’s regulatory sandbox. Ownership sat on a permissioned distributed ledger, settlement was in wholesale CBDC, and pay-in, allotment and listing finished the same day. The book drew Rs 796 cr against a Rs 100 cr base issue, with Rs 500 cr accepted.
Tokenisation could be the next big upgrade to India's market plumbing
Most financial executives have heard of tokenisation. It shows up in conversations about capital markets, stablecoins, private credit and securities settlement. It arrives wrapped in enough jargon to make people tune out. That is unfortunate, because the underlying idea isn't complicated. Tokenisation is representation of a legally recognised claim on a financial asset as a digital token on programmable rails - in the form of smart contracts on blockchain. A bond remains a bond.

India does not need a ‘cryptocurrency’; it needs a bitcoin strategy
Call it a branding error or a historical accident, but the “cryptocurrency” label has limited debates in India. It has led many policymakers to see everything in this space as a parallel money system that competes with the rupee. In reality, different digital assets do different things. India does not need a new currency.
Understanding Smart Contracts: The backbone of secure transactions in DeFi
• Traditional stock exchanges like the NYSE or NSE operate with brokers and clearinghouses that match buyers and sellers. Trades often take several days to settle and involve multiple intermediaries. • DeFi platforms like Uniswap use smart contracts to enable users to trade tokens directly from their wallets. These platforms provide liquidity pools where users can contribute assets and earn fees from trades. This further eliminates intermediaries, making trading faster and more cost-effective.
The memecoin mirage is a speculative sideshow threatening DeFi
Crypto has again been abuzz with the resurgence of memecoins, capturing the attention of both seasoned investors and newcomers alike. Fueled by social hype, celebrity endorsements and the allure of overnight riches, OG memecoins like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu and Pepe have risen meteorically, defying logic. The wave has led to a flurry of new launches and the recent surge of Solana-based memecoins, such as BONK and Dogwifhat (WIF), has further amplified this frenzy.

The following is a guest post from Srikumar Misra, founder at aarnâ protocol. A quintet of interwoven vectors: DeFi, stablecoins, AI, regulation, and liquidity are large themes bouncing around, posing barriers and deep opportunities. COVID-19 vaccine drive: Vaccinating purpose into profit
In this scenario, it is only natural that India and the world awaits--perhaps, the only solution that holds hope against the pandemic—vaccines. (Photo source: IE) By Srikumar Misra, Living in South Africa around 2005, I had a first-hand, ringside view into the epidemic of AIDS impacting and devastating many lives. I felt compelled to do something, in some small way, whatever I could influence in my capacity at the time.

There's some dung around: Solving the dairy value chain problem
There is a first world problem visiting the shores of the developing world, and it's called deflation. India has been seeing some deflationary pressure, or at least price stagnation across several sectors in the economy in the last six months. Not a healthy sign for a growing economy perhaps, but that’s another other discussion. Limited inflation in food is actually a good thing. But that’s not the situation in the dairy sector (onions are a different bulb game all together).
