DAR Middle names new ass't p'pal
Michelle Clay has been named the new DAR Middle School Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year. A Marshall County native, Clay is moving to Grant from Smiths Station, Alabama, where she taught ELA at Smiths Station High School for two years, Smiths Station Junior High for two years, and Central Freshman Academy for one year. While there, she coached volleyball, tennis, and cheer.
New season, new coach for DAR
The DAR Patriots begin the 2023-2024 football season with new coach, Kyle Davis. DAR welcomed Coach Davis to the position of head football coach on March 1, 2023. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he serves as the driver education and health teacher. Coach Davis grew up in Alexandria, Alabama, where he played on the school’s state championship teams in 1995 and 1997. He comes to DAR from Citronelle, Alabama, where he served as offensive coordinator.
New asst. principal at DAR Middle
Trevor Mitchell has been named the new DAR Middle School Assistant Principal for the 2023-2024 school year. Mitchell is starting his 15th year in education. He spent the last 12 years as a teacher at Douglas Middle School and the past 2 years as an assistant principal at Douglas High School. Mitchell has a BS in Secondary Education from Jacksonville State University, and a Master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama.
New principal at DAR Middle
Jennifer Morrison has been named the new DAR Middle School Principal for the 2023-2024 School Year. Morrison has taught English and Language Arts in the Marshall County School System for 16 years. She has served as an assistant principal for a total of four years, 2 years at Douglas High School and the past 2 years at DAR Middle School. Morrison received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in English and Secondary Education.

Case Presentation J.S. is a 13-day-old Hispanic male, presenting to the pediatric emergency department with complaints of vomiting. His mother's chief complaint is "vomiting after feeds for the last four days; it happens after every single feed; after feeding, he vomits if he lies flat; he gags a lot; I took him to the pediatrician who suggested Pedialyte, but he continues to vomit and now it is very forceful." J.S. does not take any daily medications and is healthy otherwise.
Identification of Anxiety and Depression Among Adolescent Kidney Transplant Recipients: A Cross-Sectional Observational Study
Introduction Studies demonstrate an association between mental health disorders and organ transplantation, with adolescents five times more likely to experience anxiety and depression than their nontransplant peers. The purpose of this study is to describe the prevalence of anxiety and depression in adolescent kidney transplant recipients using standardized mental health screening tools.
