What was your first job as a journalist?
Freelance copyediting.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Once, but only as a small child enjoying the clickety-clack of the buttons.
How is social media changing news?
Social media has made it so that everything on the internet is constantly put under the microscope—but that's a good thing!
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Sarah Jane Smith from Doctor Who
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means presenting the full story that otherwise wouldn't be seen. It means asking the hard questions.
What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?
I'm in crypto, all of them are pretty amusing.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Via email.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I work with many tools for SEO, optimization, and verification against AI generation and plagiarism.
What's your favorite social network?
Reddit, now that Twitter is being boiled alive.
Who do you wish followed you?
Anyone interested in my craft, or our area.
Why did you become a journalist?
The crypto industry needs more people delivering answers.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Nope, we didn't have one.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I'm quite proud of our expose on how Tron is run, it was our first major investigation.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Repeating what everyone else is saying isn't journalism, asking the questions they're not is the key.

Any time during my work hours.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
I was offered an interview with an Australian official about a new currency project.

Cream soda, though not the American variant.

At a karaoke bar.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The Onion. Satire is an important and disrespected medium for delivering crucial discourse.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That crypto is random gambling and scammers. There are definitely bad elements, but a lot of innovation is happening here.
