Enhancing the strength and ductility of a medium entropy alloy through non-basal slip activation - Nature Communications
Abstract Developing alloys with both ultrahigh strength and ductility remains a formidable scientific challenge, primarily due to the inherent strength-ductility tradeoff. Here, we present an approach to enhance the ductility and strength of a medium-entropy alloy (MEA) featuring a fully recrystallized face-centered cubic/hexagonal close-packed dual-phase ultrafine-grained architecture.
A lightweight shape-memory alloy with superior temperature-fluctuation resistance - Nature
Abstract In advanced applications such as aerospace and space exploration, materials must balance lightness, functionality and extreme thermal fluctuation resistance1,2. Shape-memory alloys show promise with strength, toughness and substantial strain recovery due to superelasticity, but maintaining low mass and effective operation at cryogenic temperatures is challenging3,4,5,6. We hereby introduce a new shape-memory alloy that adheres to these stringent criteria.

Stress Evaluation Method by Neutron Diffraction for HCP-Structured Magnesium Alloy
1. Introduction Magnesium (Mg) and its alloys are the lightest structural metallic materials and have a great potential in various applications. They are already used for automotive applications [1,2] and are also candidate materials for aircraft applications. Residual stress measurements on the engineering parts made of Mg alloys are, therefore, very important to guarantee quality and safety. Recently, Mg alloys have become multi-phase [3,4,5] in order to achieve higher performances.
Neutron Stress Measurement of W/Ti Composite in Cryogenic Temperatures Using Time-of-Flight Method
3.4. Results of Thermal Stress Alterations Figure 9a, b show the stress alterations of the titanium matrix in the W/Ti composite. Figure 9a is the result of the longitudinal direction of tungsten fibers, and Figure 9b is the normal direction. Both of these figures show the stress values calculated from the 100 plane (a-axis), the 002 plane (c-axis), and the average stress values obtained from the four diffraction planes.
