A turning point in bigotry in this country came in Charlottesville in August 2017. The Unite the Right rally, in which neo-Nazis marched across the University of Virginia campus, carrying flags with swastikas and chanting “Jews will not replace us,” was one of the most visible acts of white supremacy our country had seen in a long time.
