I've been a working journalist at a daily newspaper since 1981. In that time I've done all manner of things - exposed corrupt politicians, profiled serial killers and con men, investigated cost overruns at massive public projects and introduced readers to a new thing called the Internet. But the most enduring subject area has been the environment, defined broadly. Coverage has focused on water quality in lakes, rivers and streams, threats to the future of Lake Ontario and New York's Finger Lakes, changes in air quality, hidden rural dumps and foul urban soil, drinking water and sewage disposal, weather and climate, and more.
