Steve Benko

I am a Sports Producer for CBS Pittsburgh, better known as KDKA. Before that, I was a general assignment reporter/sports columnist for the Colorado County Citizen, a newspaper in Columbus, Texas. I covered Weimar, Eagle Lake, and Columbus, on general assignments - anything from city council meetings to high school football. Before that, I was an intern with St. John's University's athletic communications department. There, I learned about the process of what goes into athletics at a major university. I am also a blogger, I have contributed to numerous sites, and my work has been featured on major sports sites such as Bleacher Report, Fox Sports, YardBarker, etc.

My first experience of beat reporting came while I was credentialed for, and covered the Scranton/Wilkes Barre RailRiders for BaseballEssential.com. I am currently credentialed, and have covered the Houston Astros..

I launched my personal blog, Stevebenko.com in the summer of 2012, I have generated over 40,000 page views by myself. As a blogger, I have contributed to four sports websites, and have over 50,000 reads. I have had the privilege of getting to do interviews with some professional athletes and a notable sports agent. I am confident in my ability to generate internet traffic.

I am very hard-working and dedicated, I have a very outgoing personality and am very easy to work with. Accomplishing goals and objectives is something I pride myself on, I can take the lead of a project, or contribute in whichever way I'm needed. Although my forte is sports, I am confident in my abilities to adapt in any environment I am in.

In May of '15, I graduated from St. John's University, with a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in sport management.
