What was your first job as a journalist?

Reading news as part-time air talent at small market radio station.

Yes.

Consumers are less dependent on traditional, mainstream news outlets.

Perry White.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

A neutral observer, telling a story in an interesting but truthful way.

None.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Specializes in stories of interest to people who live and/or work in downtown Chicago.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Camera, digital recorder, notepad and pen. MS Word, Photoshop, Adobe Audition.

Why did you become a journalist?

I liked how stories can be produced to appeal to a large audience.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Complex U.S. District Court cases involving downtown Chicago. Any story about the Chicago River.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Don't believe everything a source tells you.
