Have you ever used a typewriter?
It's been a while but yes I have. Admittedly, I never used it in a professional setting, but moreso just toying with it for fun.
How is social media changing news?
I think we're about to see some innovative changes in the relationship between social media and game journalism. I think seamlessness is big.
Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I was tired of seeing copy and pasted game press releases. At least put a little soul behind your writing.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No. Throughout most of high school I was more focused on game development, and it wasn't until my senior year I fell in love with writing.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
My advice would simply be to write. Like any skill, repetition and muscle memory is how you grow your "word arsenal" and improve.
What's your favorite drink?
Iced coffee. I can't live without it. A year ago I completely gave up soda, energy drinks, etc. Therefore, iced coffee is my caffeine source.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
I've been an avid reader of Destructoid since 2008, so I'd recommend it even if I didn't write there. Otherwise, I frequent Giant Bomb.
