Steven Joseph Wolfe in Rochester, Minnesota, a retired real estate investor and former restaurant franchisee, embarked on his investment journey in 2013, diversifying into a 118-unit single-family rental community, five short-term vacation rentals, new apartment constructions, two Marriott hotels, and a medical biotechnology startup. In 2021, he expanded his portfolio to include his first senior living project in Durango, Colorado, which he and his partners sold in the spring of 2024. Additionally, they have invested in seven more senior living projects across Minnesota and Iowa since that time.

His professional expertise is extensive, spanning restaurant and franchise operations, real estate development including apartments and hotels, and recently, senior living facilities focusing on assisted living and memory care.

Steven’s noteworthy career began in 2000 when he became a Panera Bread franchisee. He managed six franchise locations in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, employing over 350 people. His franchise, which he sold in 2019, was renowned for its operations, financial management, leadership, employee development, marketing, and multi-site management, consistently ranking in the top five for customer satisfaction among all national Panera franchisees.

Steven Wolfe meticulously managed a large team, including general managers for each site and a district manager for regional strategy. He took pride in his hands-on leadership approach, frequently engaging directly with employees and customers. His commitment to excellence extended to his management team, which included more than 32 managers, ensuring they received the training and support needed to succeed.

Before becoming a franchisee, he worked as an independent insurance broker, excelling in supplemental insurance sales in the Chicago suburbs. His initial foray into sales began during college when he sold educational and Christian books, which sharpened his skills in customer interaction and resilience.

Steve Wolfe was raised as the sixth child in a family of ten in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1988 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in History from St. John’s University in 1992.

A dedicated volunteer, he has actively supported local nonprofits and food banks through significant donations, including over $300,000 annually from his Panera franchises.
