More Punching Power?? - Tyson,Marciano,Liston
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Bad_Intentions, . choose. here are some videos to help you guys choose. p.s - this will be the last more punching power thread. :good [yt]05GJrbVplkI[/yt] MIKE TYSON [yt]RP3UManJNsw[/yt]ROCKY MARCIANO [yt]b4BNa0zEk6s[/yt]SONNY LISTON Now, again, the videos aren't fair.
Holmes or Louis against prime Ali.
Louis would have gotten dizzy chasing a prime Ali. When he was able to get to Muhammad, Ali would have been able to withstand whatever Louis had to dish out. Joe was a patient and aggressive counterpuncher who never stopped an opponent beyond round 13. Ali took out the tough Bonavena and Wepner in round 15, nearly stopped Shavers in that same round, and won Manila after 14 grueling rounds.
Anyone ever see Fulmer/Paret?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Russell, . I saw the end of it from Ring of Fire a while ago... And honestly, I can't imagine how anyone could say that Fulmer didn't have a part in Paret's death. If anything it was every bit as brutal as the fight that put Paret in a coma, and it was the fight before Paret died in the ring. Thoughts? I've seen it.
Old Holmes vs. Old Louis
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Muchmoore, . Who wins in a fight between the Holmes that got stopped by Tyson in 4 rounds and the Louis that was finished by Marciano in 8? I hear people give credit to Marciano for this win quite a lot, while people rarely give Tyson credit for it, saying Holmes was shot. They are about the same age and I'll post my pick later when I make up my mind on this.
most punches thrown in a fight
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by dr greenthumb, . does anybody know what the record is for punches thrown in a 12 rounnd fight please? Zack Padilla WU12 Ray Oliveria (3,020) I believe is the compuBox record for a 12 rounder. dr greenthumb said: how about by 1 fighter Click to expand... Padilla again I believe Tua-Ibeabuchi I think broke the punchstat record. I hear that Rocky Marciano threw an astonishing number of punches per round.
Moore's strategy in the Marciano fight
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Street Lethal, . Moore is either circling to his left on purpose or allowing Marciano to maneuver him to the path of Marciano's right hand. It seems like Archie is either trying to avoid the left hook or pull Marciano into his own right hand or both. Moore does catch Marciano with the right and Marciano misses lots of left hooks, but Moore is right in the path of Marciano's money punch. Why didn't Moore circle to Marciano's left?
Buster Douglas as a top 100 heavyweight
Personally, I think James " Buster " Douglas is a bit underrated. When he went ino the ring against Mike Tyson in February of 1990, he brought with him an average man's record of 29-4-1-19, and was a miserable 38-1 underdog, ( or something like that. ) When reflecting on James Career, however I can't help but touch upon the fact that he really did have some talent as well as a few good signature wins. For one thing, his monumental upset over Mike Tyson was in and of itself a huge legacy.
