Flieger Friday: The Replika 55 returns
A watch returns to the Laco collection that, like few others, embodies the history and identity of our brand. I am talking about the Replica 55. Not a reinterpretation, but a reissue, which faithfully follows the historical observation watch of the 1940s. With a diameter of 55 millimeters, the dark sandblasted stainless steel case, and the classic dial variations known as Baumuster A and B, the reissue remains closely true to the original.

The new Patria combines a case made of high-polish grade 5 titanium and hands crafted from solid 18-karat gold. Like the in-house Tutima 617 movement the hands are created through Glashütte craftsmanship in the Tutima atelier. Their surfaces are hand-polished, while their bevels are ground and given a matte finish. Against the dial—which shimmers with silvery-white tones—the gold-colored, diamond-cut indices and the brand emblem add further warm accents.

Re: Limes watches As with all Ickler products, the lack of flame blued hands has steered me away from some of their models. I'd rather pay a tad more and feel like I get a more complete product (especially since their prices are already so reasonable and the fact that the competition offers them). Otherwise, everything else about Ickler products are top notch and I appreciate the in-house case manufacturing expertise that others can't offer.

Listening to the customers is something which is essential as well. Continuously improving existing products is good for the brand`s reputation and good for its customers. Imho Findeisen is such a brand.

Sometimes, a watch comes into being not from a concept for the dial, but from a specific mindset. This is precisely how M.I.K.E. was created. M.I.K.E. Is a new watch by Alexander Shorokhoff—limited to just ten pieces—that was linked to a charitable cause from the very first sketch. For every M.I.K.E. sold, 500 euros are donated to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen hospital for children with rheumatism. The initiative is partnered with the Biker Charity Run Süd, led by Harald Forster.

Mauthe's history In 1844 Friedrich Mauthe and his wife Marie (née Kienzle - does that ring a bell ??) founded a company in Schwenningen to produce watch parts. End of the 1860s Mauthe began to produce their own wall clocks (and movements). Some have been produced in homework by so called "Gewerblern", others have been produced in a more "industrial" way.

Hanhart‘s Aquasphere now available in matt black
„Aquasphere“ is Hanhart's line of dive watches. I already introduced you to the two blue models. The new Matte Black features a black dial and a matching matte black ceramic bezel. I ordered this in February of last year and it arrived today! I'm not sure if it qualifies as a 'piece unique', but I did have several customizations done to it: red up/down (auf/ab) hand, applied numerals, and a frosted rose gold finish on the movement.
