Real-world genomic landscape of FGFR2 amplifications and fusions in solid tumors: analysis of 4,953 patients using clinical-grade NGS
Background Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) alterations, including amplifications and fusions, are actionable oncogenic drivers in multiple cancers, but their prevalence and genomic features are not well defined. Methods Between October 2019 and October 2024 at Samsung Medical Center, 4,953 patients with solid tumors underwent next-generation sequencing using TruSight Oncology 500 (TSO 500) assays as part of routine clinical practice.
Oncostatin-M ligand-based CAR-T therapy displays robust anti-tumor activity against osteosarcoma
Immortalized cell lines HEK293T (HEK293/17 CRL-11269) cells were obtained American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) and cultured in complete DMEM (SH30243.01, Cytiva) with 10% FBS (F0926, Sigma Aldrich) and 1% penicillin/streptomycin (Pen/Strep, Gibco). 143B and SAOS2 cell lines were purchased from ATCC originally by collaborators and cultured in DMEM 10% FBS and 1% Pen/Strep.
Inhibition of soluble epoxide hydrolase confers neuroprotection and restores microglial homeostasis in a tauopathy mouse model - Molecular Neurodegeneration Original
The goal of this study was to determine the role of the sEH-EET epoxy lipid signaling pathway in diseases of tauopathy including AD, using a small molecule sEH inhibitor TPPU or by genetic ablation of Ephx2 in PS19 mice. Additionally, we treated the iPSC neurons or primary microglia cultures with TPPU or EET, respectively, to evaluate the mechanisms. The animals, plates, and slides were randomized prior to the experimentation and were blinded to the experimenters.
Piezo1 restrains proinflammatory response but is essential in T cell-mediated immunopathology
Piezo1 is a mechanosensitive, nonselective Ca2+ channel which is broadly expressed in CD4+ T cells. Using lineage-specific Piezo1 knockout mice (Piezo1cKO), we show that loss of Piezo1 in CD4+ T cells significantly increased IFNγ and IL-17 production in vitro under TH1 and TH17 polarizing conditions, respectively.
Climate-Induced Pandemics in the Plastisphere - National Academy Science Letters
Abstract With the increasing manufacture of plastics and its resultant plastic waste generation, disease outbreaks are likely to occur through the interactive effects of climatic hazards and (transformed) plastic-induced antibiotic resistance. However, no information is available regarding the climatic hazards linked to antibiotic-resistant pandemics in the plastisphere. This comment article offers a new forum for commenting on issues that have not been addressed.
Real-world outcomes of third-line immune checkpoint inhibitors versus irinotecan-based chemotherapy in patients with advanced gastric cancer: a Korean, multicenter study (KCSG ST22-06) | BMC Cancer | Full Text
A total of 363 patients were included in this study [ICI group (n = 129) and irinotecan-based chemotherapy group (n = 234)]. In the ICI group, 96 patients (74%) were treated with nivolumab while 33 patients (26%) with pembrolizumab. In the irinotecan-based chemotherapy group, 99 patients (42%) received irinotecan monotherapy while 135 patients (58%) were treated with FOLFIRI.

Effect of headspace gas composition in kimchi packaging on the quality characteristics of kimchi - Journal of Food Science and Technology
Abstract This study evaluated the effects of gas composition in kimchi packaging on kimchi quality. Completely sealed packaging without gas inflow/outflow during fermentation (S1), packaging allowing gas outflow (S2), and packaging allowing gas inflow and outflow (S3) were used. Microbial composition analysis, volatile compound content analysis, and sensory evaluation were performed to determine the differences in kimchi quality among samples.
Clonal hematopoiesis as a novel risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients with hypercholesterolemia
1. Introduction The development of type 2 diabetes is very complex, involving several genetic and environmental factors. Age, race/ethnicity, family history of diabetes, obesity, and physical inactivity are known as traditional risk factors (1). However, these traditional risk factors alone cannot fully explain the development of type 2 diabetes. The previous prediction models generated with these traditional risk factors had limited ability to predict future type 2 diabetes (2–4).

Effects of chronic secondhand smoke exposure on cardiovascular regulation and the role of soluble epoxide hydrolase in mice
1 Introduction Secondhand smoke (SHS), a major indoor air pollutant, consists of 80%–85% sidestream smoke from the burning cigarette and 15%–20% mainstream smoke exhaled from the smoker (Penn et al., 1994; Zhang et al., 2001).
The Psychology Behind Flirting: Why We Do It and What It Means
Flirting is a universal social phenomenon that has been around for centuries. It's a playful way of showing interest in someone and can range from subtle gestures to overt behavior. But have you ever wondered why we flirt? What motivates us to engage in this behavior? The psychology behind flirting is complex and fascinating, and understanding it can help you improve your relationships both romantically and socially.
Effect of the addition of maltodextrin on metabolites and microbial population during kimchi fermentation - Journal of Food Science and Technology
Abstract Gelatinized starch sauce, one of the sub-ingredients have been widely used in kimchi for their roles in increasing viscosity of kimchi seasoning, and fermentation. Gelatinized glutinous rice (GGR), which is one of the most used starch sources in kimchi preparation. However, GGR is accelerated to the fermentation process but lead to a reduction in the shelf life of the kimchi.

LAPSInsulin115: A novel ultra-long-acting basal insulin with a unique action profile
Developing a safe, while more convenient long-acting basal insulin for diabetic patients is still an unmet medical need. Thus, we conducted a comprehensive pre-clinical study of the novel ultra-long acting insulin analogue LAPSInsulin115. Pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic studies comparing LAPSInsulin115 with other basal insulins were conducted in db/dbmice. Insulin signaling in the major target organs was analysed by Western blot after single subcutaneous injection in wildtype male Wistar rats.
