In defense of freedom: The fight against book censorship in Florida Original
There are books that change the course of our lives. I was given such a book when I was a junior in high school: The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. In its hero I saw the power of the individual to change his circumstances, and even his world. Because I read that book, I saw that same power in myself. If I were to read The Fountainhead now, Howard Roark would seem arrogant and cold, perhaps cruel. Probably wouldn’t even finish the book. But that was then, and this is now.
Why we must take educational policy out of the hands of legislators
Susan E. Strauss Your Turn I have been an educator my entire professional life. The last 20 years of my career were spent as a college faculty member and administrator in teacher education, and I have been in many K-12 classrooms to observe student teachers and talk with the classroom teachers who supervised them. I remember him casually mention that a certain well-known organization was building a new flagship building.

Her approach was one of prevention - each nurse had to be of high moral character, thereby implying that nurses were to blame for their own victimization, which was the thinking of the time. Nightingale also required the nurses to live in separate residences where they would be away from the physicians and would not be stressed with threats of harassment.
