Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Started - and still am! - volunteering for online publications. Bearded Gentlemen was the first one to take me on and they are still amazing!

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! My Mom had me practice my typing skills on one when I was younger.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Louis Lane and Gray Grantham.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

For me is sharing information as close to the truth as possible to help others make informed life decisions. That said, I write about music.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Word Docs, Google Docs, my notepad. I've used a napkin and a pencil once. Sometimes I break out a camera though.

What's your favorite social network?

That would be twitter.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I'm really proud in the way I covered the band L.I.F.T when they were involved in a sandal. It's one of my more important works.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

I don't think I am at the point to give solid advice, but I will say that you just have to keep working and it will pay off.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

They've all been pretty good if I'm honest.

What's your favorite drink?

Lemonade or apple juice.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At a concert or hiking! However, with the current pandemic I'm mostly staying home.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

The New York Times and Unspoken Press.
