Exploring the ageing methylome in the model insect, Nasonia vitripennis - BMC Genomics
Nasonia were of the Nasonia vitripennis species from the Leicester strain which has been kept for over eight years and originated from the AsymC strain. Wild-type wasps were maintained at 25\(^{\circ }\)C, 40% humidity in a 12-h dark/light cycle. Adults, within 24 hours of eclosion, were placed in tubes of ten single-sex individuals. They were fed 20% sucrose ad libitum, refreshed daily. These were checked every day for survival. 70 females and 67 males were used.

04:12 PM Abstract No. 419 3% STS foam sclerotherapy of liver cysts is effective and durable for cyst volume reduction in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease patients

Autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPCKD) is also associated with polycystic liver disease in over 80% of patients. Hepatic cysts may result in mass effect symptoms such as abdominal pain, distention, back pain, early satiety and GERD. Sclerotherapy of large hepatic cysts can reduce symptoms from mass effect and is traditionally done with ethanol.
Association Between PPIs and Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Background: Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use has been reported to be associated with liver damage and might possibly be carcinogenic. Aims: We examined whether long–term PPI use increases the risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in patients without viral hepatitis B or C. Methods: We conducted a nested case–control study in a cohort of patients without viral hepatitis in Taiwan from 2000 to 2013. In total, 29 473 HCC cases and 294 508 matched controls were included.
A prospective observational study on the stress levels at the time of embryo transfer and pregnancy testing following in‐vitro fertilization Treatment: A Comparison between Women with different treatment outcome - Cheung - - BJOG: An International Journal
Subjects were recruited to (1) completed validated psychological questionnaires (visual analogue scale of stress, state trait anxiety inventory, perceived stress scale, fertility problem Inventory, Beck depression inventory, and general health questionnaire), at the time of embryo transfer (ET) and pregnancy testing (PT), and (2) provided saliva samples for alpha amylase (sAA) measurement before and after ET and at PT. 197 subjects completed the study, of which 92 conceived and 28 miscarried.

Clinicians identify high need to increase their genomic literacy to applied cancer genomics
Background: This study is the first survey of the genomic literacy of medical oncologists as co-investigators on a trial using medical genomic “big data”. The Personalized Onco-Genomics Program (POG) conducts whole genome DNA and RNA sequencing and in-depth bioinformatic analyses on patients with metastatic cancers to identify somatic variants and gene expression changes that may be targetable cancer “drivers”.
