Updated: Unfinished basement - Dedicated Home Theatre and Bar
See latest post for an update to the design. Equipment has been updated to include JBL speakers. Hi all, I'm in the planning and layout stages of my dedicated home theatre build and I'm looking for some insight into the ideal way to layout my space. I live in Newfoundland, Canada and there are near zero options for home theatre installers or design consultants in my province, as far as I know.

6 JBL CX1200's in a 55 cubic foot riser
This is a LLT CX1200 build incorporated into my riser for TR to the front row. The rear 50 cubic feet of my riser is being used as volume for a pair of vented 21's (see my signature), but the front row did not get much tactile response. This is tuned to 14Hz and plays low with ease. I will post some REW sweeps at some point but I am using different amps right now because one is in the shop, and I don't think I can max these subs out mechanically with the setup I am temporarily using.
MarkAudio CHP-90 Bass Reflex Monitors with Passive Contour Filter | Live Oak Slabs (Updated!)
#1 · Hi all, I finally completed a monitor that I put some effort into regarding finish and trying to up my game a few steps in that respect. I really enjoy full range drivers and keeping any crossovers away from mids but also like working with drivers that can offer bandwidth extension based on cabinet design. I didn't want to design towers for these, but I also didn't want to go small.

Dayton Audio UM18-22 dual coil question - 4ohm load
I'm replaceing the Lavoce SAF 184.03| 3000W 8ohm In my Marty Subs with Dayton UM-18-22 with dual 2 ohm coils. my question is this: I've know you jump negative on coil 1 to positive on coil 2 then wire each end coming in to the proper + and - on one of the voice coils. But is there actually a coil 1 and and coil 2 (or does it not matter which one get wired to which)? (for those looking in the future this video explains it )
Harbottle M2C18 D2 Limited Edition Group Buy
#2 · Awesome looking driver. Is it only rated 5hz to 75hz? So ideally paired with speakers capable for a crossover at around 70hz? #3 · Crossovers are not brick walls and a lot of subs will roll off the top end due to inductance. Those will pair perfectly fine with the xover of your choice. My SI18's are a drop in the bucket compared to the Harbottles, and they integrate seamlessly at 60/80/100. #5 · In talking to Cody about it this morning, he said that it's full rated use from 5 to 75 hz.
Yet another vbss build thread (for noobies).
I started routing the edges tonight. Of course I managed to mess up the very first side I start on. The bearing on the flush trim bit fell off while I was using it. Didn’t even know that was possible…. Took a nice chunk out of the mdf… At least it’s the back panel… Any suggestions for patching/repairing that? Putty/bondo/wood filler? Wood filler would be the easiest since I have that laying around already…. Ran to lowes to get a new flush trim bit.
vertical subwoofer
#1 · I bought a nx3000 during Black Friday which I was planning to use but also have a nx6000d that I could actually use and replace it with the 3000 if I had a convincing enough reason But would prefer to just use the nx3000. I do have a mini dsp as well that i would hate to use since it is 4 channel but I have one not in use and don't see any other option I am planning to buy 6 GRS drivers for this project.
Is Atmos 5.1.2 worth upgrading from 5.1 or don't bother?
Thanks for all the replies and votes everyone. I've decided to go ahead and install a pair of ceiling speakers based on the recommendations here. Looking in my home theater (read: basement) I am fairly limited in where to install them so it won't be ideal in any way but it shouldn't be too bad. Due to the room limitations I've decided to just add 2 ceiling speakers which is fine since my new receiver only supports 2 atmos height speakers anyway.

Dual HT24 build using GSG BTS Dual Sealed enclosure
#1 · I have been running several 18's in my theater room for quite a while now. Two 18's in baffle wall and four 18's behind my seating. I have been curious about 24's. A pair of HT24's became available here on AVS, so I bought them. My goal with this build was to replace the four 18's I have behind my seating with two 24's. Displacement wise, when looking at area and stroke, I am not gaining anything, but it allows me to do the following: 1. Save space. 2.
