Condensed Matter > Superconductivity
We investigated the upper critical field of a large single grain of the Nb-substituted van der Waals layered quasicrystal (Ta$_{0.7}$Nb$_{0.3}$)$_{1.6}$Te. The sample exhibits a sharp superconducting transition at $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ = 1.35 K, the highest value reported to date among quasicrystal superconductors.
Anomalous upper critical field in the quasicrystal superconductor Ta1.6Te - npj Quantum Materials
Abstract Superconductivity in quasicrystals poses a new challenge in condensed matter physics. We measured the resistance and ac magnetic susceptibility of a Ta1.6Te dodecagonal quasicrystal, which is superconducting below Tc ~ 1 K. We show that the upper critical field increases linearly with a large slope of − 4.4 T/K with decreasing temperature down to 0.04 K, with no tendency to level off.
Transport evidence for twin-boundary pinning of superconducting vortices in FeSe
We provide bulk transport evidence for twin-boundary pinning of vortices in FeSe. We measure interlayer resistance in FeSe in magnetic fields and find that, as the field is rotated in the ab plane, the flux-flow resistivity is suppressed when the field direction is parallel to twinning planes. The width of the associated dip in the resistance vs in-plane field direction curve varies as T1/2B−3/4, consistent with the creation of kinked vortices near the parallel field geometry.
Anomalous Hall effect in the magnetic Weyl semimetal NdAlGe with plateaus observed at low temperatures
In the RAl(Si,Ge) (R: lanthanides) family, both spatial inversion and time-reversal symmetries are broken. This may offer opportunities to study Weyl-fermion physics in nontrivial spin structures emerging from a noncentrosymmetric crystal structure. In this study, we investigated the anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in NdAlGe via magnetotransport, magnetization, and magnetic torque measurements down to 40 mK (0.4 K for magnetization).
Fermi surface and mass enhancement in the topological nodal-line semimetal NaAlSi
COVID-19 has impacted many institutions and organizations around the world, disrupting the progress of research. Through this difficult time APS and the Physical Review editorial office are fully equipped and actively working to support researchers by continuing to carry out all editorial and peer-review functions and publish research in the journals as well as minimizing disruption to journal access.
Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov and vortex phases in a layered organic superconductor
Abstract Superconductivity is one of the most intriguing topics in solid state physics. Generally, the superconducting Cooper pairs are broken by the Zeeman effect, which gives the so-called Pauli paramagnetic limit HPauli. However, when the superconductivity is in the clean limit and the orbital effect is strongly quenched, the Cooper pairs can survive even above HPauli, which is the so-called Fulde and Ferrell, and Larkin and Ovchinnikov (FFLO) phase.
Spin-lattice decoupling in a triangular-lattice quantum spin liquid
The spin–lattice decoupling requires reconsideration of the data analysis in the heat-capacity measurement on κ-(BEDT-TTF) Cu (CN) . The heat capacity has been measured in a limited temperature and field region, T > 0.8 K and μ H < 8 T15. In this region, C is obtained by measuring the thermal relaxation in a long time scale, 10–100 s. This time scale is much longer than our lattice-heating result, 0.1–1 s, and even comparable to the spin-heating one, 0).
