Why did you become a journalist?
To tell stories and explore truths
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Nope. My high school was too small to have a newspaper. We all knew everything about everyone else! But I did edit the lit mag.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That only a small portion of English-language readership is interested in international pop culture. Globalization has changed that.
