To tell multiple Truths, with a capital T.

Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter.

Oprah, Madonna, Malala, Michelle Obama, Cindy Lauper, Savannah Guthrie, Jane Fonda, Clive Davis, Angelina Jolie, bell hooks, Gloria Steinem.

Why did you become a journalist?

To tell stories no one else could tell.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No, never even thought it was an option.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

The story of the commune where I grew up in Texas.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Tell your story, and tell it slant.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On a running or bike path, by the ocean, sipping coffee at a café, walking with my pups, curled up in bed reading a book or watching a film.

NYT, Teen Vogue, Harper's, The New Yorker, Paris Review, Ploughshares, Cosmo, Elle, Shondaland, The Atlantic, The Sun, McSweeney's, Salon.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Muslims and Jews hate each other and are more dissimilar than similar.
