Introduction Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) accounts for 5% of stroke cases, and aneurysm rupture is the underlying cause in 85% of SAH cases. Hydrocephalus is a major complication among patients with spontaneous SAH.1–3 Hydrocephalus can lead to a prolonged hospital stay, an increased number of days (d) in the intensive care unit (ICU), and an increased rate of shunt-dependent hydrocephalus in SAH patients.4 It is also a common cause of readmission after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH).
