Why My Teenage Sons Carry a Tampon and Pad in Their Backpacks
According to UNICEF, 26 percent of people on Earth menstruate. That’s 1 in 4 of us. And yet, most women and girls will tell you that merely talking about having your period in public is still pretty taboo. But as the mom of a 10-1/2-year-old daughter and two teen sons, I’m hoping to change that. Earlier this month, I posted a photo of my sons, Micah, 15, and Elijah, 16, to the private Facebook page and watched it spread. It was an image I snapped in Target while we were back-to-school shopping.
Allowing Spirituality to Shape Me When I Did Not Know Christ
Spirituality by Ebony Davis • January 4, 2020 Throughout my entire life, I have never been in cahoots with God himself. As a matter of fact, my parents never drove me to church every Sunday. The most exposure I ever received as a kid was through my paternal grandmother. She was a strict churchgoing Christian who went to an intimate church in Kansas City, KS. However, as a child, I never understood the definitive characteristics that shaped a church, who Jesus was or what the Bible is used for.
January Tarot + Animal Collective Reading
Spirituality by Kim A • January 2, 2020 The Magician + Camel Spirit YAAS witches, queens, soul seekers and magic makers! Let’s start this year – this decade – off with a bang! The Magician invites us into our own seat of power, while Camel Spirit helps us to see the tools, skills and abilities that we already have at our disposal. These two are a powerhouse combination if ever I’ve seen one and I could not be more excited about the energy they are ushering us into this year.
make me think | Harness Magazine
Relationships by Charlotte King • December 28, 2019 I always see writings about it being important to find a partner who will make you laugh. Because beauty and passion fade, lust dies, etc. I agree, this is important, but I have had this and it is not enough. I have been with the men who make my mouth drip with lust, and this is alright too. The ones who promise to give me the world, or at least all that they can. But I did not want their worlds. I want my world.
Self Sabotage/Self Protection
Most of us have experienced self sabotage in our lives and most of us are aware on some level we do it. It may be with relationships, money or health. Whatever it is, it can be a viscous cycle of getting so close to a goal or stage in our lives we want and then watching it all crash down around us. Why do we do it though? It never feels good when we see it happen and it never leaves us any better off then we were before.
A Letter to My Teen Son Who Has Come Out as an Atheist
Relationships by Tara Ahrens • December 24, 2019 Dear Beloved Son, My whole purpose in raising you was to raise an independent adult by the time you turned 18. That was the end goal. I had, in my mind, 18 years to mold you into a fully functional adult, with everything that entails. You are almost 17. We are in the final countdown.
A love letter to no one in particular…
Relationships by Nikiko Eisgruber • December 24, 2019 It’s a recycled story. You love someone and they don’t love you back. In comes the clouds. You know what’s a damn shame? There are countless beautiful, independent, intelligent, fun and sexy people out there who refuse to give up on love – yet, they get pushed down over and over because people are so careless with words.
