Tara Cox is a Manhattan-based magazine editor and freelance food and lifestyle writer who's held positions at Real Simple, Rachael Ray Every Day, Men's Journal, Popular Mechanics, Us Weekly, and Details, and others. She was the founding editor-in-chief of RVLiving, an award-winning domestic travel magazine that helped transform motorhoming from old-fashioned to hip. She's the author of Airstream: The Silver RV, a book New York Magazine's "Approval Matrix" dubbed "Highbrow/Brilliant." Recently, she launched The Promiscuous Palate, a Substack food newsletter "For the classy, the trashy, and the hungry," celebrating food without the restrictions of status.
Cox has written restaurant reviews for Time Out New York and developed unique recipes for a hot dog company. Her contributions to both The Ultimate Spam Cookbook and The Delmonico Way reflect her appreciation for all things highbrow and lowbrow. Always up for an adventure, she's tried everything from alligator roasts to scorpion-and-ant-topped pizza for magazine stories, and got her certificate from Weeki Wachee Mermaid Camp just because. She's also served as a faculty member of Columbia University's Columbia Publishing Course for over ten years, helping students navigate an evolving media landscape.
