What was your first job as a journalist?
Working for the small local digital publication in the town I attended college.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
For fun, yes! But not for anything work-related.
How is social media changing news?
Revolutionizing how fast journalists can get out factual information on breaking news.

At the moment, it has to be Trent Crimm from Ted Lasso.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means seeking out the truth under all the surface-level noise and figuring out how to form it into a digestible narrative.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Via email with a general rundown of angles and structure.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Adobe Photoshop, photo agencies, Mac, etc.
What's your favorite social network?
Have to say Twitter for the live-tweeting of reality TV shows and various sporting events. Also, it's unrivaled with breaking news.
Who do you wish followed you?
Taylor Swift, but she doesn't follow anyone, so...C'est la vie.
Why did you become a journalist?
I've had a passion for storytelling since I was in middle school, mixed with a curiosity to uncover the truth in various avenues,
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Not in high school, but I did work for my college publication.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
Anything that's music-related, from interviews to album reviews, SXSW panel coverage, and music festival write-ups.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Trust your gut.
