Who are the best "tall" fighters to study?
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by joejab, . Of course by tall, I mean tall in their division. So which fighters should every tall fighter watch and try to model themselves after? Masao Ohba at flyweight. Panama Al Brown & Carlos Zarate at bantamweight. Alexis Arguello at featherweight Can't think of any tall lightweights worth tracking... perhaps Arguello again would be the one to look for. Antonio Cervantes at junior welterweight Tommy Hearns at welterweight. Tito Trinidad as well.
Jake La Motta v Marvin Hagler
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Napuis, . Hagler UD LaMotta isn't going to push Marvin around and bully him, or he'll get counter-dissected into a face sized band-aid. Hagler gives Jake a good going over. La Motta not getting much support here is he.
Is Usyk an all-time-great fighter?
ENI_3300 said: ↑ He has wins over Bellew,Chisora Gassiev Glowacki, Briedis Huck and Hunter. Is this enough to be considered an ATG or does he need to beat some more quality fighters ? Click to expand... For me Usyk is as much HOW he did it as the paper part of the resume - all in the back yard, with the deck stacked against him in most cases,a dn with the arguable exception of Breidis, he was the dominant and clear winner.
Thomas Hearns vs Gerald McClellan At MW
Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by sas6789, . hearns does. mcellan is tougher and bigger mw. PhillyPhan69 and Bokaj like this. Don't blink, That's all I can say! Hearns easily. McClellan is ONLY a puncher. Tommy had far more to his game than just that. There's a permanent question mark hovering over discussions about Gerald. How good was his durability? Was his near fatal injury against Benn due to a predisposition, like Johnny Owens? Was he at risk through his whole career?

Feelings about the current state of boxing?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Ted Stickles, . I was just curious how some of you are feeling about the sport these days. I have been a boxing fan since I was a kid, I competed as an amateur and have always loved the sport. But lately I find myself not as excited for the sport. I mean I still look forward to a huge fight week but I don’t know if it’s this generation, the sanctioning bodies, the promoters, or the lack of prospects who are exciting and willing to fight anyone.
Michael Gerard Tyson vs. Jacob Joseph Paul
This is...real. Like, actually. This is no drill, nor as originally thought an exhibition. It's a sanctioned pro bout. It counts on their records. 8x2" rounds (although neither of them has a vagina that I'm aware of...the main event of the card is a women's match, though...) scheduled at heavyweight. It will be their 59th and 11th professional contest, respectively. I'm shook.
KSI vs Tommy Fury, Logan Paul vs Danis - Who on this forum is buying the PPV?
Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by esboxing, . who on this forum will or would buy this PPV card, anonymous Poll. Please vote. i won't pay to see it. i plan on watching the highlights on YouTube though. I’ll be surprised Dani’s makes it to the arena. That guy is FOS But to answer your question, no I wouldn’t pay for this crap. The card is actually stacked: KSI vs Tommy Fury Logan Paul vs Dillon Danis Deen the Great vs Walid Sharks King Kenny vs. Anthony Taylor Whindersson Nunes vs.

VIDEO: Will Fury Retire?
Worth alot. Thanks Rummy. Ill enjoy this over some green tea. He can't retire without fighting the winner of that fight. That would be the Bowe trash can move of this generation and will haunt him forever. Plus for historical significance he will become undisputed and be the first since Lennox.
Jake Paul beats Canelo
This will be a massive PPV in 2-3 years
Where is Whyte training?
When Whyte posts clips of his dogs on Instagram (it feels like several times a day...), the location looks dry, hilly and rocky - it doesn't look like the UK. Is Whyte still training in Portugal? He usually trains in Portugal. All drugs are decrimmed in Portugal aren't they.. Just saying!

Alexander Povetkin vs James Bonecrusher Smith

Bonecrusher would manhandle Sasha I can't see Povetkin losing to a guy who got KO'ed Razor Ruddock. Povetkin in his roided prime would win by decision. Bonehugger would likely win against the natural, 30-yo Povetkin tho. Reinhardt, rinsj, ExtraSamsaric and 1 other person like this.

Joe Joyce vs Anthony Joshua is a possible replacement if USYK is out. How does this one go? AJ gasses trying to knock Joyce out, then Joyce stops AJ. Afterwards Joyce mumbles incoherently for 3 weeks. AJ is faster and more athletic, and there's no way JJ can outbox him. AJ by UD.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Kell Brook in 2014.
How would Floyd have done against the Brook that beat Porter? I think Floyd wins a comfortable UD. Everything that Brook does well, Floyd does better. Floyd by UD with Kell having his moments in the first half. After the first half it's all Floyd. You got it right.
Whyte demanding to be paid to attend press conferences
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > World Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by HEADBANGER, Feb 19, 2022 at 6:05 AM. Videos circulating today from Fury that Whyte has demanded to be paid to attend press conferences for their fight, with Fury jokingly stating he's set up a 'Go Fund' page for Whyte. Hopefully Whyte doesn't attend the conferences, gets slaughtered on fight night and no meaningful promoter ever goes near this delusional rat again.
Who in your opinion is the greatest boxer in the history of boxing?
Ok so when I saw the thread title 3 names immediately came to mind…. I know you said one but for me each guy could lay claim…. In no particular order Pep, SRR and Greb came to mind. Pep’s record, his boxing skills , and defensive mastery were incredible SRR had two fisted power, steel chin,an amazing skill set, and at one time was 128-1. Won titles in more then one weight class. Greb beat more hall of famers then anyone, went 45-0 in one year, and fought in numerous weight classes.
How would Tyson Fury fair against 2nd tier fighters from the 90s like Mercer, Ruddock, Moorer
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > World Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by mark ant, Jan 28, 2022 at 10:58 AM. How would Tyson Fury fair against 2nd tier fighters from the 90s like Mercer, Ruddock, Moorer, Morrison, Golota, etc., fighters who weren't elite? Easy work. Can beat them any way he wants. Out of shape Fury coming in after a night out might have it tough for a round or two but they all slow and Fury takes over and asks them what's for desert.
Will there be a "RIP Don King" when he dies?
Well when you look at it this way Old Don put on some great cards. Yeah I know he screwed a lot of fighters along the way, but so have many others. Would the members of NSAC, CSAC etc get RIP.s ? Would the notorious Vegas judges get R I P 's when they pass? Now I know some of you will say " Here he goes again" but just think how two boxers have done far more to hurt the sport in their careers than ever Don did.

Why did Usyk struggle against Chisora?
I still don't understand this narrative. Usyk handily beat Chisora; at worst winning 116-112. He knew Chisora would exert a lot of energy early on so he gave away the first 2 rounds, similar to what you see Mayweather do. I scored it 117-111 Usyk, giving Chisora rounds 1, 2, and I believe it was 10? There was a later round where I thought he did enough to win it. Chisora is a guy who has a ton of losses, so people think he isn't that good.

Why wasnt Tyson Fury stripped of his lineal title?
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > World Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by tinman, Dec 10, 2021 at 6:47 AM. Fury became the lineal champ after beating Wlad Klitschko. Then he had almost 3 years out of the ring. And then went over 3 years before fighting an opponent inside the top 10. Now, I know the Lineal title isnt actually tangibly real. It does not exist like a belt.

Boxing is becoming hard to watch right now. It's like WWE at times. Most fathers in boxing are inadequate, low IQ and very agressive at press conferences.

Fury should be gagging to get Whyte in the ring
Boxing News 24 Forum Forums > Boxing > World Boxing Forum > Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Finkel, Nov 27, 2021 at 5:00 PM. Personally, I'm backing Fury on this potential fight. However, here are three strong reasons to make this fight from Fury's perspective: 1) Legacy - Whyte would be the third best name on Fury's resume: WBC interim, PBO#4, TBRB#4, Ring#5. He's been in the Ring Rankings for 241 weeks and counting. 2) Money - both are PPV fighters in their own right.
