Teddy Teece’s Biography

Teddy Teece serves as the Managing Partner of KEA Capital Partners, an investment firm focused on connecting international capital with New Zealand's light industrial sector. As an entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist, he has founded and developed businesses across finance, technology, executive coaching, and real estate. Throughout his career, he has focused on aligning purpose, profit, and planet while addressing global, overlooked, or unique market challenges.

Drawing on five generations of family connections to New Zealand and a dual-hemisphere, bi-coastal upbringing, he brings a global entrepreneurial outlook combined with a commitment to service. These experiences continue to shape his work today as he helps long-term and lifestyle-oriented investors pursue financial returns while building stronger ties to and contributing to one of the world's most stable and desirable destinations.

Building Bridges Between New Zealand and Global Capital

As Founder & Managing Partner of KEA Capital Partners, Teddy leads acquisition strategies throughout the “golden triangle,” concentrating on light industrial sectors. The firm's strategy focuses on acquiring, growing, and consolidating established businesses that play important roles in the country's infrastructure. Through KEA Capital Partners, he is raising funds from families and investors who seek residency opportunities in New Zealand while contributing to its economy.

During his first year in Wharton’s Executive MBA program, Teddy developed KEA Capital Partners’s business plan and investment thesis, built advisory relationships, tested the business model, and prepared for market opportunities. KEA Capital Partners now provides a geopolitical insurance opportunity for investors concerned with macroeconomic uncertainty and attracted to New Zealand’s reputation as one of the safest and most stable places to live and invest. He created an investment model that blends private equity and search fund strategies with local partnerships, community events, and philanthropic opportunities. The result is a platform designed for investors who value both financial performance and quality of life.

From Entrepreneurial Operator to Investment Leader

Before establishing KEA Capital Partners, he worked across several industries. As Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of Expert Capital Partners, he helped build an investment bank that experienced rapid growth while handling eight and nine-figure transactions.

Earlier, Teddy co-founded LocalEyez, a marketplace for unique experiences, developed through The Icehouse incubator and featuring partnerships with providers such as JUCY. His background also includes family business consulting through The Legacy Academy, which he co-founded as a service line of Berkeley Research Group (BRG). In these roles, he advised business families, executives, and next-generation leaders throughout the United States, the Middle East, and New Zealand. He developed leadership programs, assessment tools, and succession planning strategies for multinational organizations. During this time, he also contributed to leadership development initiatives involving executives from major international alliances.

Creating Value Beyond the Balance Sheet

Beyond finance, travel technology, and consulting, Teddy has developed a nonprofit and executive retreat destination near Boulder, Colorado. There, he has overseen the improvement of a forty-acre property dedicated to connection, reflection, wellness, and community. Demonstrating a hands-on approach, he personally built several features of the property and managed teams as a general contractor.

Teddy continues to invest time, effort, and resources into maintaining the sanctuary as a place centered on service, belonging, self-reliance, and well-being. His charitable involvement includes serving on the advisory board of the C4 Foundation alongside Medal of Honor recipients and supporting Navy SEAL families through the organization since 2017. In addition, he has helped raise six- and seven-figure sums for organizations such as Project HEAL.

Advocacy, Service, and Community Impact

Teddy believes many modern challenges require stronger communities, greater resilience, and more open conversations about mental health. Through Maka Sanctuary, the nonprofit branch of the retreat organization, and future educational initiatives, he aims to create environments where individuals, families, and leaders can engage with these issues in practical and meaningful ways. His work increasingly emphasizes helping people build healthier foundations for leadership, service, and success.

Scholarship, Athletics, and Personal Development

Teddy graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and was co-awarded the Norman Holmes Pearson Prize for the university’s best senior essay. During his time at Yale, he competed as an NCAA Division I lightweight rower and also played rugby.

Teddy's experience as a student-athlete sparked a lasting interest in performance science, sport psychology, and what he describes as “holistic fitness,” integrating physical health, mental well-being, purpose, and community to build resilience.

A Long-Term View of Leadership

Today, Teddy Teece works alongside a New Zealand-based team of experienced business leaders, supports charitable organizations, and spends time working the land, writing, drumming, and exploring. Whether helping investors identify opportunities, advancing mental health initiatives, or creating spaces for learning and healing, he remains focused on building organizations and communities designed to endure for generations.

Teddy's approach reflects stewardship and service, grounded in the belief that lasting success comes through long-term partnerships, shared purpose, and aligned values.
