Terry Ward’s Biography

Hi, I'm Terry and I'm a freelancer travel journalist and on air travel expert based in Tampa, Florida. Over my 25-year full-time career as a journalist, I've covered everything from a women-run guesthouse in a conservative village in Rajasthan, India, to camping among narwhals on the floe edge in Arctic Canada; scuba diving from an expedition sailboat in Svalbard to paddling Florida’s bioluminescence in the Indian River Lagoon. I also act as talent for SMTs for major brands and DMOs.

My work regularly appears in CNN, Afar, National Geographic, Lonely Planet, Scuba Diving Magazine, AARP, Travel+Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler, among many other outlets. I cofounded the blog FloridaBeyond and have a special affinity for backyard adventures in the Sunshine State (as long as they’re interjected with frequent escapes to travel in Europe, Asia and elsewhere around the world, preferably with my young kids in tow). I'm an avid scuba diver and speak Spanish and French, dabble in Arabic and German, and am happiest by the ocean.
