Chester Wilson III reviews Michael Chang's Drakkar Noir
Michael Chang Drakkar Noir In all art, as artists, we give ourselves away. To the world, to our audience, even to ourselves, we give out these pieces as if they were infinite. Whether in public or private, this exchange of the body is an act of giving, for which the author can show their true self. There is a tenderness in this.
They Write by Night, Invisibility Noir
By Suzanne Lummis on October 21, 2020 in Film, Poetry, Spotlight Invisibility – Pre-code Halloween Noir The not-to-be-missed Halloween episode which mixes dark goings-on in the fantasy world of early “scary” cinema and in the troubling real world, and in which Lummis admits she lied. She lied when she said, several episodes earlier, that this series would be “all noir all the time.” Oh, it is that but So much more.
Thaddeus Rutkowski: Three Poems
Selected by Alexis Rhone Fancher, Poetry Editor By Thaddeus Rutkowski on September 30, 2020 in Poetry WHERE I’M FROM I don’t think anyone outside of a ten-mile radius has heard of where I’m from. The one-street town lies downstream from another one-street town. I never made it more than a mile or two from my home. For transportation, I used a bike, my feet, or skates. Surrounded by nature, I had no choice but to appreciate it. I was raised as white, but I’m not white.
Book Review: Tricks of Light by Thaddeus Rutkowski
By John Brantingham on September 30, 2020 in Poetry, Spotlight What drew me into Tricks of Light, Thaddeus Rutkowski’s newest collection, was how he captures the universal sense of alienation that seems to be a part of human existence especially in this new age of COVID. That is, it felt universal, and it might be, or it might be that he’s just that good a poet.

By Ajoke Adetoya on September 26, 2020 in Focus, Poetry The One That Never Comes Why won’t You tell me all your secrets? Don’t you know am a Bairn who never falls? Why won’t You pour your heart out to me?
After the Passing
In the early morning, I look out my window and see only whiteness—a cloud over the valley. In the fog, everything is a ghost of itself. The buildings (a garage, another hotel next door) are faint replicas of structures. The fast-food place is a vague box with a yellow “M” floating over it. On the road, the vehicles are ghost conveyances, piloted by phantom drivers. The logos on the sides of trucks aren’t clear. Could that rig really be an ice cream truck?
So Many Olympic Exertions

Blending elements of self-help, memoir, and sports writing, So Many Olympic Exertions is an experimental novel that perhaps most resembles what the ancient Greeks called hypomnemata, or “notes to the self” in the form of observations, reminders, and self-exhortations.
Patrick Trotti Reviews 'Haywire' by Thaddeus Rutkowski
Thaddeus Rutkowski’s newest novel, Haywire, published by Starcherone Books, was published in December. The author, who has gained a loyal following over the years, has outdone himself. In this, his third novel, Rutkowski has woven together 49 flash stories narrated by the son of a Polish-American father and a Chinese mother. The focus of Haywire is the narrator’s dealings with the people and world around him, and how he comes not only to get along with, but also love those closest to him.

Taylor Mead, RIP
I met Taylor Mead in 1989 when we both acted together in a science fiction movie shot in the Hall of Science at the World’s Fair Grounds in Queens. I’d seen his acting in the seventies when I moved to NYC and saw Nude Restaurant, Lonesome Cowboys, Queen of Sheba Meets the Atom Man and The Flower Thief.
