On clemency, NC governor’s inaction speaks louder than words
N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper could become the first governor in more than 40 years to complete a term without granting clemency to a single person. ERIC PAUL ZAMORA Fresno Bee Staff Photo In a few months, Gov. Roy Cooper could set an unfortunate record. Unless he takes action soon, he will become the first North Carolina governor in more than 40 years to complete a term without granting clemency to a single person, which includes sentence commutations and pardons of forgiveness or innocence.

Anti-abortion campaigners call themselves “pro-life”, but whose life are they pro?
When anti-abortion campaigners landed on the phrase “pro-life” as a descriptor of their beliefs, they struck gold. Both elements of the term are virtually impossible to counter.
