Protecting trust in an age of AI and impersonation
There was a time when typos and odd grammar made it easier to spot a scam, but recently I’ve received a few emails, both scam and genuine, that have made me think twice about their authenticity, and I’m not alone. According to National Trading Standards’ new AI Scam Watchlist, 47% of UK adults think it is getting harder to tell what’s genuine online. The continued acceleration of AI capabilities make it easier for scammers to create genuine-looking content, including images and videos.
Changing news habits, shifting trust

From banking apps and airline check-ins to smart home devices and gaming platforms, millions of people around the world were affected, including me. But this wasn’t just a technical hiccup.
How will OpenAI’s $30B Oracle deal affect its sustainability commitments?
News came overnight of OpenAI’s $30 billion-per-year deal with Oracle to lease 4.5GW of data centre capacity across the US. To put that capacity into perspective, a report by Bloomberg suggests that 4.5GW is equivalent to the output of more than four nuclear reactors and is enough to power 3 million homes.
Substack: an under-utilised engagement tool
In the ever-evolving world of digital marketing, brands are constantly looking for fresh and effective ways to connect with their target audience – enter Substack. While it began as a platform for independent writers and journalists, Substack has been adopted by generalist bloggers and creators who have seen an opportunity to engage communities of followers on a more personal level, and it’s time for organisations to take advantage of the opportunity too.
