Thomas Pepin, better known as Tom Pepin, is a Tampa Bay business leader and philanthropist whose influence has shaped many areas of the region, including education, healthcare, commerce, and public safety. Over more than four decades, he has combined business leadership with a steady commitment to community service. Known for his thoughtful approach to both enterprise and philanthropy, he previously served as President and CEO of Pepin Distributing Company, where he helped grow the organization while also strengthening its connection to the community.
Tom Pepin returned to Florida after graduating from Middlebury College in Vermont. With a clear interest in continuing the family business, he became involved with Pepin Distributing Company and began learning its operations. In 1986, he purchased the company from his father and guided it through a period of growth.
During his leadership, the company expanded into one of Florida’s major beverage distribution businesses. It grew into an enterprise valued at approximately $260 million and served as a key distribution partner for leading beverage manufacturers. The company became recognized for disciplined management, dependable service, and strong relationships with suppliers and local businesses.
A notable example of his commitment to community support is the T. Pepin Hospitality Center. Tom created this facility to give nonprofit organizations access to a professional venue for fundraising events and community gatherings. The center offers nonprofit groups the opportunity to host events at costs that remain manageable for charitable organizations.

When several families approached him about the challenges their children faced in traditional classrooms, Thomas's family helped support the creation of Pepin Academies. These public charter schools were designed to serve students with specific learning disabilities such as dyslexia and ADHD.
For more than twenty-five years, Pepin Academies have helped thousands of students through individualized educational programs that focus on building confidence, accountability, and practical life skills. The schools continue to provide specialized support for students who benefit from a structured and supportive learning environment.

Thomas has supported programs connected with the Tampa Police Department Chief's Foundation and other law enforcement initiatives. After selling Pepin Distributing Company, Tom entered a new stage of leadership focused on stewardship and long-term planning. To support this work, he created Tapper Ventures and the Pepin Family Office. These organizations provide a framework for coordinating investments, philanthropic initiatives, and strategic decision-making for family projects.
Several public institutions and organizations have recognized his work. In 2017, Tom was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame for his business leadership and civic involvement. The Florida Senate has acknowledged his contributions to community service on multiple occasions. The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners also honored him for decades of civic commitment. In 2023, Temple Park was renamed in recognition of the Pepin family’s contributions to the city.
