What was your first job as a journalist?
After working as a newsroom officeboy, I was hired as a freelancer for a business magazine. Both helped me to give up journalism.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, I loved it when I was a kid! What a good idea to buy one so it will join my turntable, my cassette player and my discman.
How is social media changing news?
For better. Journalists lived ages of one-way emitting information, and it is good to see people questioning every single comma.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means a lifelong learning process, and it's Ok not knowing everything. But we can be very good at something.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
There are so many tools and gadgets these days that one important part of the job is to evaluate which ones better fit our needs.
Who do you wish followed you?
Anyone who is not an extremist and the ones who can cope with different points of view without reacting agressively.
Why did you become a journalist?
First, by chance. Then now, by choice.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The next story is always the most exciting story 😉
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
I wish advice could be something good. I would say that the right answer for this question is: formulating the right questions are key.
When's the best time to pitch you?
It depends on the subject. If I don't know you, mornings seem fine. Late afternoons are always pre-booked for ongoing matters.
What's your favorite drink?
Gin and tonic.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
In front of TV watching the news or the newest sitcom with my cat. Or maybe trying to postpone death at the gym, who knows.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
There are so many great stuff out there. From Medium blogs and newsletters from independent journalists to mainstream media, all matter.
