Letter to the Editor: Nobody has stolen the town of Westport
Tim Gillespie Monday Jun 22, 2020 at 6:48 PM Somebody stole our town? When Westport’s Board of Health tried to take proactive measures to address the atrocities inflicted on farm animals in a backwoods site on Route 177, they did it through a public process, which involved public meetings, exchanges of ideas, and thoughtful deliberation. One of the measures they landed on was to create a registry of farm animals throughout town so they would have an understanding of where animals were being kept.
Letter: A strong choice for Westport's Board of Health

The Herald News verifies and reviews all letters to the editor we receive. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not those of The Herald News. Local politics and local elections in a town like Westport are routinely populated by citizens who are generous enough to offer their time to make a contribution to the running of the town.
YOUR VIEW: Westport Taxpayers Association … Who are these people?
By Tim Gillespie I’m annoyed by the so called Westport Taxpayers Association. My first complaint is something I’ve expressed before … please change your name to something that relates to your actual mission. The name you’ve chosen suggests you believe you’re speaking for the majority of Westport taxpayers. You’re not. All the taxpayers I speak to are angry about your tactics and frustrated that you operate behind the veil of anonymity.
Letter to the Editor: Residents owe it to Westport's future to vote 'Yes' on new school
Tim Gillespie Westport cannot afford to pass on this opportunity to build a new school. The opponents to building the new school point to declining school population and the amount of debt the town already is dealing with. There is nothing unique about Westport’s predicament. It is a phenomenon in Massachusetts and a direct outcome of Proposition 2 ½. The genius of the act was that it would rein in what was perceived as out-of-control rising property taxes in communities that could not afford it.
