Crypto Could Stave Off a U.S. Debt Crisis
The American experiment is being tested. Nowhere is this more evident than in the trajectory of the national debt. The U.S. is headed toward a predictable yet avoidable debt crisis. If nothing is done, the economy will stall while government promises of healthcare and retirement security will be broken. Cuts to national defense will put the country at risk. With no fiscal solution in sight, the crisis is likely to start with a failed Treasury auction forcing an ugly surgery on the budget.
Can Spain Defuse Its Depopulation Bomb?
Over the past 40 years, no party has dominated the Spanish political landscape like the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party, or PSOE, now headed by Pedro Sánchez. Yet frustration over its handling of key issues — from the economy to immigration to regional separatist movements — has provided an opening for the centre-right People’s Party (PP) to win a plurality in national elections this Sunday. Were this to happen, it would likely enter into a governing coalition with the hard-Right Vox party.
The House Acts to Recover More Pandemic Unemployment Fraud
This week, the House is considering Republican-authored legislation (H.R. 1163, the Protecting Taxpayers and Victims of Unemployment Fraud Act) designed to promote more recovery of fraudulent unemployment checks paid during the pandemic, among other purposes. LTTE: There’s a place for tolerance
Tim Sprunt May 4, 2020 Abortion is perhaps the most contentious issue facing our country today. Despite the social progress that we have made in recent years (and there is still much more to go), the divide between those who are pro-life and those who are pro-choice remains. I do not think it is something that will ever go away. A few days ago, the members of Undergraduate Student Government at Case Western Reserve University decided to allow a pro-life group, Students for Life, to form on campus.
