What was your first job as a journalist?
Stringer on the local newspaper, covering town meetings and doing profile pieces.
Have you ever used a typewriter?
A type-what-er? Just kidding. Yes, I learned keyboard skills on a typewriter. I'm a horrible typist.
How is social media changing news?
It is making news more immediate. It brings in voices that might not have been heard, and it is a great way to find story ideas and sources.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Clark Kent. For obvious reasons.

Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist because I'm the curious sort. I want to know what's happening and why.
