GitHub merge queue is generally available
General availability of GitHub’s merge queue means good-bye to traffic jams on your team’s busiest branches. No more rushing to merge your pull requests before someone else merges theirs 🥵. Turn on GitHub’s merge queue today and accelerate your merge velocity 🚀. Any team that is part of a managed organization with public repositories and GitHub Enterprise Cloud users will be able to enable this feature on their respective repository and start streamlining their team’s pull requests immediately.
GitHub code search is generally available
One of the most fundamental tasks developers perform is reading and understanding code. Whether planning and implementing a new feature, investigating a bug, or reviewing a pull request, developers typically spend more time reading and understanding code than writing it. That’s why, in the past two years, we’ve laid out our plans to improve code search and shown off the technology that enabled us to do so.
The technology behind GitHub’s new code search
From launching our technology preview of the new and improved code search experience a year ago, to the public beta we released at GitHub Universe last November, there’s been a flurry of innovation and dramatic changes to some of the core GitHub product experiences around how we, as developers, find, read, and navigate code.

Is it boudin if there is no rice?
I live in southern new Jersey but my family is scattered across Louisiana. I've grown up eating boudin and never once was it missing rice and I assume it keeps the world turning. This weekend while working I see a menu for a local sausage company and 80% are in the Italian variety but on the other side they're getting "exotic". There's a sausage named "boudin Blanc" made with veal and chicken with Parsley and mushrooms.
Pay for GitHub with PayPal
GitHub is now accepting PayPal, in addition to credit cards, to pay for personal plans and organization accounts. We’ve been working closely with Braintree to deliver PayPal payments using their brand new APIs and we’re pretty excited with the result. You can use PayPal whether you’re just signing up, looking to upgrade, or want to switch off credit card payments.
Announcing the GitHub Developer Program
Whether you’re just getting started or have been building applications on the GitHub API for years, the GitHub Developer Program is all about making sure you have the right resources to build the best possible integrations for our incredible community. Providing developers with a great API has always been an important part of GitHub. Over time, the API we’ve offered has evolved – adding increased flexibility, greater capabilities, and more endpoints.
OAuth Improvements
We have a couple of great new features and improvements to the OAuth flow to announce! First off, application developers can now add full text descriptions and custom images to their applications to help communicate to potential users. Next, we have entirely new views for allowing/denying access to your GitHub account. These views better communicate the identity of the 3rd party application and what kind of access they are requesting.
Personal API tokens
You can now create your own personal API tokens for use in scripts and on the command line. Be careful, these tokens are like passwords so you should guard them carefully. The advantage to using a token over putting your password into a script is that a token can be revoked, and you can generate lots of them. Head on over to your settings to manage personal API tokens. Wait! There are already some tokens in there! Don’t panic. You’ve always been able to create arbitrary OAuth access tokens via the .
Designing GitHub for Windows
This article hasn’t been updated in a while. For the most current information, please refer to the official Help documentation and the Desktop website. Today, I thought it would be fun to give some insight into how we do native application design at GitHub. Many people are surprised to hear the breadth of design and code that happens at GitHub on a daily basis. We love Ruby and Rails, but we are far from a single language dev shop.
