Tolera Gemta’s Biography

Tolera Fikru Gemta is a seasoned professional in international affairs, media/communications and research with over 15 years of practical experience. He was one of the founders and editor-in-chief of The Voice and Raji newspapers in Ethiopia. Tolera also worked for CSOs/NGOs in development and humanitarian programs where he led multi-sectoral projects. He worked for Code for Africa (CfA)/ PesaCheck, as a senior fact checker where he was also involved in training Ethiopian newsrooms through DWA and UNESCO-funded projects. He currently works for Agence France-Presse (AFP), a leading global media. Tolera has also authored the best Afaan Oromoo novels: Imimmaan Haadhaa and Raayyaa Dhugaa. He has rich experience in working effectively with national and international agencies, various stakeholders, community organisations, media and people from diverse backgrounds.
