Our vision is a district where every child succeeds
In the last decade, the number of students of color who graduate from high school every year in Denver Public Schools has nearly doubled. There is no better indicator of our progress. By challenging the status quo and implementing a series of innovative changes, we have shown more academic and enrollment growth than any other district in the state. Yet, we know it is not enough. Our gaps in opportunities and results for our students of color still remain too wide.
At Denver Public Schools, we must be accountable for every child
Hardworking, passionate teachers and school leaders are the heart and soul of Denver Public Schools, and an invaluable resource for students, families and the greater community. Without their service to Denver’s kids, we would not have seen the record high number of schools achieving our top ratings on the 2017 School Performance Framework (SPF).
Boasberg: Integration still matters
Equity is one of our shared core values in Denver Public Schools. We believe that the diversity of our students is a wonderful asset to be celebrated and that integration of our schools is core to the education of our children. That principle starts with the diverse leadership of our elected school board and is deeply shared by students, parents and educators in Denver. Study after study has shown all kids benefit, in academics and as our future leaders, from diverse classrooms.
Boasberg: Educating a diverse population
Denver Public Schools is a "melting pot," rich with diversity and culture with a student population of nearly 90,000 kids who speak 172 different languages. That diversity provides DPS with both significant challenges and wonderful opportunities in that it gives us a chance to foster high-achieving, bilingual, multiliterate graduates who will have a positive impact on our workforce and community.
