Chances are you had breakfast, lunch or dinner today. You may have found something to snack on or drink. If so, you have the agricultural producers and workers to thank. Food and other groceries do not magically appear on the store shelves. What you eat and drink comes from a farm in one form or another. It won’t be easy, but WA can launch the airport of the future
We are at the start of the greatest transformation in flight since the development of the jet engine. It is not going to happen overnight, and we won’t see large, emissions-free commercial aircraft anytime soon, but like what we have witnessed with space exploration, technological advancements will continue rapidly. Since the pandemic, livelihoods have been devastated, people have fallen behind on their mortgages and rents, students have been left behind in schools, foster kids have fallen deeper into crisis, businesses have been closed, and problems related to homelessness, substance abuse and domestic violence may have intensified. These problems must be addressed in comprehensive ways, but mental health ties to each and every one of them.

I survived COVID, but are we making the cure worse than the disease?
On Feb. 29, Gov. Jay Inslee proclaimed a state of emergency due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. With this being an unknown and highly contagious virus, most folks agreed with his precautionary measures. His reasoning was to protect and not overwhelm the healthcare system and keep our people alive and healthy. He shut down most of our economy, allowing only “essential” businesses to operate and told everyone to stay home and protect themselves.

Behold ‘The Adventures of Mega Penguin’ – Media Molecule’s extraordinary E3 Dreams game jam
At E3 2018 we rounded up a host of developer friends and asked our wonderful Community to give us a story to create in Dreams! Our Co-Founder Alex Evans kicked off the tale while Lead Artist Francis Pang and Audio Programmer Bogdan Vera took the reins on bringing the incoming ideas to life, all from within our own little hideaway at Sony’s booth (aka, the Lair of the Mega Penguin).
Watch Dreams' in-house band, The Molecules, perform live at E3
E3 2018 was amazing for the team at Media Molecule. We were able to give press the chance to go hands-on with Dreams, build a mini-story along with other developers and community (all hail the Mega-Penguin!) and demo Dreams live on a giant stage at the Sony Booth. And when you watched the Sony Press Briefing you may have seen the clips of Dreams spliced in and thought “Everyone loves a guitar playing banana but what does it all mean?!”. Well, the jig is up… err… the gig is up?
State legislature update from Rep. Tom Dent
Special sessions have become the norm in Olympia, and we are currently making our way through our second special session this year. However, a couple of things to remember: If we are protecting taxpayer dollars then the extra sessions are worth it. And, the past few special sessions have produced strong, bipartisan operating budgets. That provides us reason to be optimistic. The K-12 education negotiators are making progress.
Legislative update from 13th District legislator
The 2017 legislative session is now underway, and I am a couple of weeks into my second term. The opening ceremonies were a great reminder of what an incredible honor it is to be in Olympia representing the folks of the 13th District and Washington state. While the first week was busy with the swearing-in ceremony, the governor’s State of the State address, and the inaugural ball, it was still 0-60 m.p.h. in no time flat when the session got underway.
