New Compliance Alert: “Know Your Rights” Notice Due February 1 | JD Supra
The California Labor Commissioner released a “Know Your Rights Act” notice template, in accordance with Senate Bill 294, that was approved last fall. All employers must provide this notice to their employees on or before February 1, 2026, and annually thereafter. Templates are currently available in English and Spanish, with additional languages expected soon.
Los Angeles Fires: Employers Should Weigh Employee Needs With Current Laws | JD Supra
The recent wildfires in Los Angeles have significantly impacted businesses and their employees – employers should be aware of their responsibilities to support their workforce during this challenging time. Key considerations include: Wildfire Smoke Regulations: Employers must monitor the Air Quality Index and protect workers from unhealthy air due to wildfire smoke. If the AQI exceeds 150, California employers must provide N-95 respirators to all workers and encourage their use.

Bicyclists must follow all rules of the road [opinion]
Regarding proposed state House Bill 1536, titled “Vulnerable Highway User Protections,” I would urge the inclusion of language spelling out the responsibilities of bicyclists and also penalties for violating the law. In 2018, there were two fatalities involving bicyclists and motor vehicles in Lancaster County. Since bicyclists are subject to the same rules as motorists in Pennsylvania, the party at fault should receive a summons. The involved motorists were not cited.
Multidrug Resistant HIV Drug Lauded, But Clinical Foundation Not Very Deep
It is safe to say that few people read a June 5, 1981, report in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report that described five cases of a rare lung infection, Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), in previously healthy young gay men.
Real-World Evidence Not Quite Believable Enough
First of two parts The idea of using real-world evidence to improve health care is really something of a no-brainer. It’s just plain common sense. Clinical guidelines to aid practitioners’ everyday decisions aren’t available for 85% of services, and there is a constant onslaught of new procedures and treatment options that need to be evaluated as they are used in clinical practice and not in the controlled and fundamentally artificial context of a clinical trial.
Virtual health assistants and trust in patient care
Doctors, patients and insurance companies don’t agree on much. But ask them what they think of call centers, and you can rest assured you’ll get complaints from every quarter. Not only do patients dread having to navigate cumbersome voicemail menus to get even the simplest medical information, but doctors, nurses, administrators – and just about everyone in the medical community – also dislike them. Even call center operators are frustrated by them.
Is CAR-T Really Putting Us On Road to Gene Therapy?
For decades, researchers, some physicians, and a few patients have had visions of treatments that would go in and fix diseases at the genetic level. Last year, those dreams took on some reality as Kymriah and Yescarta became the first FDA-approved gene therapy treatments. But there’s a catch: Are they really gene therapy? For a long time, gene therapy has been viewed as therapy that would fix or replace a specific aberrant gene causing an inherited condition or sparking a disease.
Two New Drugs for Tardive Dyskinesia Hit the Market
During my residency many years ago I rotated through a locked psychiatric ward, a place depicted in many movies and television shows but entirely new to me at the time. This was my first real glimpse at the people who were severely affected by thought disorders such as schizophrenia. The treatment options included antipsychotic or major tranquilizers like Thorazine and Haldol, both of which are in the dopamine antagonist D2 class of drugs.
To Enable Patients, Meet Them Where They Are – Dr. Thomas Morrow – Medium
A Q&A with Loreen Brown, Senior Vice President of Product, Strategy & Commercialization Excellence at Lash Group At Next IT Healthcare, we believe that patients should be in the driver’s seat. Until the patient is in charge of his or her own care, it will be impossible to make meaningful progress on some of the biggest issues facing our healthcare system. “Patient-centric care” is a big buzzword right now, and that gives me hope.
Cognitive Computing: The Key to Scalable Health Insights
A Q&A with Greg Caressi, Senior Vice President of Healthcare & Life Sciences at Frost & Sullivan At Next IT Healthcare, we believe that patients should be in the driver’s seat.
