Following the permanent cessation of the publication of all "panel bank" US dollar LIBOR settings at the end of June 2023, the final milestone in the seven-year transition away from LIBOR is now just around the corner. (For a recap on Synthetic LIBOR, see our earlier article Dentons - Hot topic of the month: Synthetic US dollar LIBOR - What is it? Can you use it?

Collaborative contractual models, good risk management during projects and proper record keeping can help to address the risk of disputes arising over road and rail infrastructure projects. At a recent webinar we hosted – the first in a series we have organised over the coming weeks and months to explore global road and rail issues – we looked at the lessons businesses can learn from the common causes of disputes in road and rail projects globally.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: A Thanksgiving gift
Letters Written By: Tony Nicholson, Bemidji | Dec 2nd 2020 - 6am. × I received a Thanksgiving gift on Saturday, Nov. 28. I suppose most people do not consider a letter as being much of a gift, but this letter was. As part of an outreach program at my church, I have made regular personal visits for the past several years to two elderly church members who find it very difficult to attend church. One of these individuals is an elderly gentleman.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Here’s a new twist on an old prayer
Letters Written By: Tony Nicholson, Bemidji | Jun 3rd 2020 - 6am. × As a young boy, I prayed every night for God to take my soul if I should die before I awoke. The prayer had little impact on my daily life. Now I am an elderly man with underlying health issues in the middle (or beginning) of a pandemic. My thoughts have turned to those elderly people in an assisted living or long-term care facility who face the real possibility of laying down at night and not seeing the dawn.
GENERATIONS: Tony Nicholson: The great fire sale of 1949
By Tony Nicholson Today at 10:53 a.m. I know many people, both men and women, who have expressed the desire to run away from home when they were little. Even my wife made such a threat, but did not carry it through. Now I never had such a wish. I recognized a good thing when I saw it—"three hots and a cot." I did not want to leave home nor did I want my parents to leave me, particularly after March of 1949.
GENERATIONS: Tony Nicholson: What’s a Butcher Boy again?
By Tony Nicholson Today at 5:30 a.m. I interviewed my mother in 1985 on her 80th birthday, and recorded the interview with a cassette recorder. The interview lasted approximately three hours over two days. Several years later, I made a copy of the two cassette tapes. I heard my mother talking, but I did not listen. I even had the tapes transferred to compact discs. I decided recently to listen to the discs to prepare an edited transcript.
GENERATIONS: Tony Nicholson: ‘Thanks for the memories’ indeed
By Tony Nicholson Today at 4:36 p.m. Recently, I watched an old broadcast of a Johnny Carson “The Tonight Show.” He had Bob Hope as one of his guests. Hope had just returned from a trip to Iraq to entertain U.S. troops stationed there. Hearing him talk of bringing his USO show to military personnel, my mind raced back to a time more than 50 years ago. In early January 1964, I flew commercial and military aircraft from North Carolina to South Korea via California and Japan.
GENERATIONS: Tony Nicholson: Murder in the monastery
My Mom did not know much about her family history, even the names of all her aunts and uncles much less dates of birth and places of residence. For years I wanted her to accompany me to east-central Indiana, where both sides of her family originated, but my efforts to convince were in vain. So, several years ago I traveled alone to the Hartford City area to delve into Mom's family roots. At the Blackford County Historical Museum, I met a man who directed me to a farm south of Hartford City.
TONY NICHOLSON: The day of the 'Worm'
Some of the professional players have acquired interesting or descriptive nicknames. Most everyone has heard about Wilt Chamberlain, "The Big Dipper" or "Wilt the Stilt." I saw in person Julius Ervin, "Dr. J.," and Oscar Robertson, "The Big O," play college basketball before they became professional legends. One nickname that I did not know was "Worm."Dennis Rodman played 14 seasons in the NBA.
GENERATIONS: Tony Nicholson: An old-fashioned boy's Christmas
This Christmas classic is fictionally set on Cleveland Street in Hohman, Ind., around 1940. The actual street scenes were filmed in Cleveland. In the movie, elementary school age Ralphie Parker wants an Official Red Ryder Carbine Action 200 Shot Range Model Air Rifle for Christmas.

Tim Watkins, Tony NicholsonRichard Smith (“Dick”) was born and grew up in Parsons Cross, between Sheffield and Rotherham. He left the local comprehensive school aged 16 joining the Royal Air Force as a cadet. Over nine years of service he was promoted to loadmaster on Hercules transport planes. However, his ambition …
GENERATIONS: A trip on the ‘Old Bay Line’
However, I took a trip with my father in July 1953, which remains the most memorable boat excursion of my life.Gramma Nicholson, Dad’s mother, lived in the small town of Bath, N.C., which is near the coast and not near any big city. In the days before interstate and other direct route highways, travel from our home in Charleston, W.Va., to Bath defied simplicity.
PRIME TIME: The lure of loud mufflers
There it sat -- a red 1965 Ford Mustang 289. The bright red paint had faded from the hood, top and trunk, but the dual exhaust pipes and racing wheels offset any paint distraction. The black interior featured a three-speed stick shift. Jerry let me start the engine. The roar that emanated from those dual pipes sounded like a heavenly chorus only produced by glass pack mufflers. Most car mufflers do just that -- muffle the noise from the engine manifold through the exhaust system.

The rewards of refugee programs | ANZ BlueNotes
The economic case for the increased workplace participation from refugees and others from a diverse background is solid. When given the chance, refugees seize it and make the most of it - yet still encounter barriers to employment in Australia. Workplace programs like ANZ’s Given the Chance offer meaningful learning and development opportunities not just for the participant but for all parties involved.
Filling the indigenous talent pipeline | ANZ BlueNotes
Down on the floodplain of the Goulburn River, in the regional town of Shepparton, a quiet revolution is taking place. There’s a bunch of indigenous kids in that town of 30,000 souls bucking the national averages for dropping out of school and missing out on jobs. Instead of ending up unemployed, they are completing high school, gaining entry to university, winning internship opportunities, and travelling nationally and internationally to meet other inspiring Indigenous leaders.
