The Jabberwocky And The English Language
By Anton Lang ~ A couple of days back now, I heard a word I hadn’t heard for years, and that word was Jabberwocky, and it immediately brought to mind the poem I’ll get to below, and that poem reflected the many wonders really of that wonderful English Language. Back in 2011, I had been contributing here at this site for three years, basically on my subject of expertise. (well, perceived that way anyway) I had done a couple of other unrelated Posts, but not many.
How Government Works
The simplicity of a real free market makes us so much more productive. Imagine buying a sandwich. You walk into a shop, hand over $12, and leave with lunch. Nobody needs to know whether your sandwich contributes to regional employment, supports biodiversity, advances cultural reconciliation or aligns with Australia’s 2050 emissions targets. You just wanted a sandwich. But imagine if the government bought your sandwich for you.

Open Prostitution Booms In NYC. It’s All Part Of The Socialist Plan.
By Jarrett Stepman ~ Prostitution is openly proliferating in New York City thanks to socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani. It’s all part of the plan. ANGELA WEISS / AFP via Getty Images The New York Post reported on Sunday that “prostitution-related arrests have plunged by 60%” this year in the city. That’s not cause for celebration. A decline in arrests doesn’t mean there has been a decline in crime, which is always something to think about when considering crime statistics.

Is Climate Change Abe Lincoln’s Fault?
By Dr. Kelvin Kemm ~ Mark Twain said, “Climate is what we expect, weather is what we get.” His real name was Samuel Clemens, and in 1863, he adopted ‘Mark Twain’ as a pen name. The most common explanation of where the name came from is that as the riverboat men on the Mississippi measured the depth of the water, they would call out ‘mark twain’ at the ‘two fathom’ mark on a rope.
An Australian Test Cricket Record Almost As Old As The Game Itself
By Anton Lang ~ Almost one hundred and fifty years ago, at around lunch time on that Thursday the 15th of March 1877, the Australian batsman Charles Bannerman stood in the middle of The Cricket Ground in Melbourne and took his guard. The Englishman Alf Shaw came in and bowled the ball, and Charles played it gently back to him. Only around one thousand people were actually watching this happen on that morning, and the crowd built up later in the day.

Tony In Rockhampton Visiting With Family
By Anton Lang ~ Once or twice a year, I will take some time to visit with family who do not live close by, and this is another of those times. My daughter and her family live in Rockhampton, and that city in Central Queensland is around 650 Kilometres (around 400 Miles) North of where I live. That’s the distance by road. My daughter’s husband was visiting with his father near where I live, so he took me back to his home with me when he drove back here to his own home.

The Real Reason Why Advertisers Are Flocking To Fox News
By Rob Bluey ~ Fox News delivered its highest second quarter advertising revenue in the network’s history, Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced Wednesday during the company’s earnings call. Jesse Watters hosts one of the network’s most popular shows. (Fox News) The record haul was fueled in part by an influx of new advertisers. Murdoch said Fox News added roughly 200 new advertisers in the first half of the fiscal year—on top of the 350 new advertisers the network brought in last year.
Ahhh! Australia - The Happiest Country On Earth (Well, Maybe Just An Ad For Lamb!)
Every year, the independent Australian regulator, Meat & Livestock Australia brings out a TV advertisement to advertise Australian Lamb products. The ads are humourous in nature, and timed for mid January each year, around the time of the Australia Day (26th January) Public Holiday, when so many Australians have barbecues, at home, at the beach, and in nearly every local park in the Country.

How The Climate Grifters Spread Misinformation
By Dr. John Happs ~ The term ”Grifter” is defined by the Cambridge Dictionary as “Someone who gets moneydishonestlyby tricking people.” This definition is entirely appropriate for those individuals or organisations that deliberately spread alarmist misinformation about climate change for their own benefit, whether that benefit is financial, political or ideological. CLIMATE GRIFTERS CLAIM THAT THE DEMONISING OF ATMOSPHERIC CARBON DIOXIDE IS NOT POLITICAL OR IDEOLOGICAL.
By Craig Rucker ~ Repeating the annual United Nations ritual yet again, COP30 will run from Nov. 10 to Nov. 21 in Belem, on the edge of Brazil’s northwestern Amazon rainforest. The city will host some 70,000 scientists, activists, journalists, politicians, and observers (including CFACT), who will party, participate in endless meetings, and plot ways to convert waning worries about a planetary climate crisis into continued sinecures for those who profit.

By Anton Lang ~ “Can you pick up some steaks for the barbecue this weekend?” In the first post on this subject (Beef Cattle And Beef As Food) I wrote about the root source of the meat I’ll be writing about here, the actual beef cattle and the many and varied breeds of those cattle, with the emphasis on what it is like here in Australia.

Update On Australian Wind Plant Power Generation Intermittency - Part Two
By Anton Lang ~ In the earlier Post, (at this link) I wrote that the intermittency problem with wind power generation was getting worse.
Update On Australian Wind Plant Power Generation Intermittency - Part One
By Anton Lang ~ I look upon all of this as a failure of planning, and quite literally on a huge scale, the construction of Industrial Wind Plants in an area where they do not deliver power at the scale they are supposed to deliver their optimum power, and exactly how and why this location is unsuited for best case power generation. Now, that’s a pretty bold statement to make, this large scale planning failure. So, to show you why it is so unsuited, look at these following two images.

The Indian Pacific Train Journey Home - Part One (a) - Kalgoorlie
By Anton Lang ~ On the first morning after leaving Perth, we were scheduled for a very early breakfast, as we left early for the first of the off train excursions, and the tour I was on was one of four of these different excursions. This first stop was at Kalgoorlie, and that is the site of probably the largest gold deposits on the Planet.
The Indian Pacific Train Journey Home - Part Six - The Last Leg
By Anton Lang ~ After almost four hours at Broken Hill, we were back on the train in time for lunch, and then an hour or so in the Lounge car, mostly talking about that wonderful visit and the things we all saw.

The Indian Pacific Train Journey Home - Part Five - Broken Hill
By Anton Lang ~ After the wonderful evening at Seppeltsfield, we left Adelaide for the next stop at Broken Hill. Now they had unhooked the single locomotive at the front of the train, and hooked up two locomotives at the back of the train, as we now had to cross The Blue Mountains close to Sydney, hence the need for more power to haul the train across those mountains.

By Anton Lang ~ In the earlier Post, we had left Port Augusta, and the next stop was for the off train excursion to Seppeltsfield Winery in South Australia’s famed Barossa Valley wine region. Again, we pulled into a siding and for the three sections of accommodation on the train, we all got out using the now familiar ‘steps platform’.

The Indian Pacific Train Journey Home - Part Three
By Anton Lang ~ This is the continuation of my train journey across the Continent of Australia, from Perth to Sydney on the iconic Indian Pacific train. This Indian Pacific train trip is detailed at this link. After the off train excursion at Cook, it was another night sleeping on the train, our second night, and I was actually surprised how well I actually did sleep on the train, despite the movement inherent in train travel.
The Indian Pacific Train Journey Home - Part Two
By Anton Lang ~ This is the continuation of my train journey across the Continent of Australia, from Perth to Sydney on the iconic Indian Pacific train. The first part of this is detailed at this link. I have always been technically minded, so, here’s some technical details about the locomotive which pulled our train across this vast Continent.
