Tony Merevick’s Biography

Tony Merevick joined BuzzFeed as a reporter in the fall of 2013 to focus on national LGBT news. He is the co-founder and former editor-in-chief of Chicago Phoenix, an innovative LGBT news startup in the Midwest.

His roots are in local digital media, once serving as the Online Editor at Chicago Free Press. In the summer of 2011, Merevick worked on the iPad team at O, the Oprah Magazine through the American Society of Magazine Editors summer internship program.

His work has appeared in ACED Magazine, ChicagoTalks.org, the Columbia Chronicle, and TimeOut Chicago. In 2010, he contributed reporting to an investigative story co-published by the now-defunct Chicago News Cooperative and The New York Times about the Chicago Tax Increment Financing system.
