Tikz : compare x^3 and 2^x * x from x = 0 to 10
I'm far from being an expert in TikZ because I just start using it. I would like to be able to plot this comparison of equations: This plot came from the Wolfram Alpha, which is a very good website to obtain results, but unfortunately not free to download the displayed result...
A Question in Compiling book Class
I'm using TeXMaker to write my thesis, and after trying with include and input, that had the problem you mentioned, i ended up using the subfiles package, in this way: Main document \documentclass{report} \usepackage{subfiles} \begin{document} \subfile{./Chapter} % Chapter file's name (and position) \end{document} Chapter document \documentclass[./MainDocument.tex]{subfiles} % Main document file's name (and position) \begin{document} ... \end{document} In this way I can compile a single chapter.
Generate the n-th letter of the alphabet in a tikz loop
The following code draws 10 nodes, labelled from 0 to 9. \documentclass[a4paper,10pt,landscape]{article} \usepackage{tikz} \begin{document} \begin{tikzpicture} \foreach \i in {0,...,9}{ \node (i) at (\i, \i) {\i} ; } \end{tikzpicture} \end{document} Instead, I would like the nodes to be labelled from a to j. Is there a function which, given an integer n, returns the n-th letter of the alphabet?
write latex "commands" to file - TeX - LaTeX Stack Exchange
I made a randomly chosen quiz machine using and for audience part that produce a containning one frame per question, one slide per second to show the count down: it make a with multiple redundant pages. I'd like to produce in parallel a digest form of this quiz, in article A4 format, with only the questions and the answers.
How to draw a figure explaining deciles in latex
One option using TikZ: The code: \documentclass{article} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} \usepackage{siunitx} \usepackage{eurosym} \usepackage{tikz} \usetikzlibrary{decorations.pathreplacing} \begin{document} \begin{tikzpicture}[>=latex] \draw (0,0) -- ++(10cm,0pt); \foreach \Valor in {1,...,9} { \draw (\Valor,-3pt) -- (\Valor,3pt); } \draw[->] (5,-3pt) -- ++(0pt,1.2cm) node[above,text=green!80!black] {Mediane: $D5$}; \draw (0,-3pt) -- ++(0pt,15pt) node[above]...
missing $ error when creating a table
As Leucippus implies, subscripts ( ), superscripts ( ), , , , are commands that can only be used in math mode, so you need to enclose them in dollar signs or . As such he has answered your question, this answer is just a suggestion for an alternative way of typesetting that table. I've added the package, and used as the column specification for the table. This will create three columns ( ) where a is inserted at the start ( ) and end ( ) of each cell, effectively setting all cells in math mode.
Replace all instances of * with \cdot only in mathmode
As i understand the most accepted form to write the multiplication symbol in LaTeX in . However i have a rather large document already with as the multiplication operator. I would like to replace all instances of with , but only in mathmode( ) and displaymathmode ( ). I would like to do this with future documents as well, as i think it improves readability of the code. Is there a way to do this with for example? Or any other way to do this for the whole document?
Esperanto flag in Tikz?
For example, the star can be drawn with the help of a regular shaped polygon with five sides.
How use the package TikZ with comment
The main constructs are \foreach and grid; the shapes.geometric library was used for the stars and the diamonds: The code: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{amssymb} \usepackage{tikz} \usetikzlibrary{shapes.geometric} \definecolor{myred}{RGB}{236,1,59} \definecolor{myblue}{RGB}{116,122,255} \definecolor{mygreen}{RGB}{130,214,149} \definecolor{mygray}{RGB}{196,196,196} \begin{document} \begin{tikzpicture}[ dot/.style 2 args={circle,draw=#1,fill=#2,inner sep=1.5pt}, square/.style 2...
How to draw stacked rectangles (in a third dimension), but with the intersected lines clipped + grid pattern for each rectangle + shaded fill + text
As the title indicates, I'm trying to draw a figure (see enclosed example) which comprises of different rectangles that are stacked (after each other) in the third dimension. I tried different things (incl. using preaction-mode & clipping-feature) but the result was always very disappointing. I ended up with a messy-looking manual result, which I'm in no way comfortable with ... This is the MWE: This created image gives a first rough idea in which direction it should go, but as one can see ...
Edge anchor in tikz
\documentclass[tikz,border=5pt]{standalone} \usetikzlibrary{positioning} \usetikzlibrary{fit} \begin{document} \tikzset{ box/.style = {draw, text width=4cm, rounded corners=2pt, align=center, fill=white, fill opacity=0.8, text opacity=1}, } \begin{tikzpicture}[node distance=0.25cm] \node [box] (A) {A}; \node [box, below right=3cm of A] (B) {B} edge (A.east); \node [fit=(A)(B), draw, inner sep=0.75cm] {} node [above left, fill=yellow!20, draw] {Box title}; \end{tikzpicture} \end{document}...
Formatting data dictionaries in LaTeX
I would like to write out some data dictionaries for a program design document in LaTeX, and I am looking for an efficient way to do this. I want to write snippets that look like: Name = FirstName + (Initial) + LastName FirstName = 1{Character}32 Initial = Character LastName = 1{Character} Character = [ A-Z | a-z | 0-9 | ' | - ] It's important that these are lined up at the = signs - they look ugly without it.
Problem with labelling tcolorboxes
The tcolorbox package allows for automatic box numbering and using other counters as well. The label can be specified as an option. It's quite useful to define a \newtcolorbox for such cases which get it's own name space and does not interfere with other tcolorbox settings, which is 'polluted' by \tcbset. The other nice way with \refstepcounter was answered by Torbjorn T. already, which is correct of course.
Draw ellipsis (three dots) between nodes in tikz
You can add a node, without any border, and use \ldots. The syntax at ($(1)!.5!(2)$) means "place it at half distance between 1 and 2". This requires the calc library. One more thing: I switched from arrows to arrows.meta because the former is deprecated. See the Tikz manual (16.5 Reference: Arrow Tips, page 203) for more details on how to define the arrow tips. Alas, the tips are a bit different, if you want it round add >={Stealth[round]}.
Scandinavian letters (ä and ö)
I've been working on my thesis with MikTex, and I've had a problem for some time now. Every Ä and Ö letter is marked a black box of sort or as ?. I've looked around the internet and I know that you need to have \usepackage[ansinew]{inputenc} before you start writing. However when I try to use that, it gives me this error: ! LaTeX Error: Command \textcurrency unavailable in encoding T1. I'm using my university's template for the thesis, which has all the settings premade.
Help with basic block diagram
Here you go.
I am trying to add a trend line to this plot
I have this graph: \documentclass{standalone} \usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} \usepackage{textcomp} \usepackage{pgfplots} \pgfplotsset{width=10cm,compat=1.9} \usepackage{filecontents} \begin{filecontents*}{data.csv} a,b 1.230448921,0.460822919 1.342422681,0.694747354 1.431363764,0.828862164 1.505149978,0.993514561 1.568201724,1.257457266 1.62324929,1.521115401 1.672097858,1.822516751 1.716003344,2.125021632 1.755874856,2.355223203 1.792391689,2.567059417 1.826074803,2.763380773...
Drawing graphical model without a package
For simple diagrams like these you can use the amscd environment: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{amscd} \begin{document} \[ \begin{CD} X_0 @>>> X_1 @>>> X_2 @>>> \dots \\ @VVV @VVV @VVV \\ Y_0 @. Y_1 @. Y_2 @. \dots \end{CD} \] \end{document} Right, left, down and up arrows are denoted by @>>>, @<<<, @VVV and @AAA; an empty arrow is @.; an “equal” vertical arrow is @|, horizontal is @=.
