Judge Sets Date For Trial That Could End Trump's Political Career - Ring of Fire
The republican party doesn't care if he is a rapist. Mitch McConnell doesn't care if he is a rapist. Lobbyist don't care if he is a rapist. 6 people on the "Supreme Court" don't care if he is a rapist. Fascists don't care if he is a rapist. Evangelicals don't care if he is a rapist. None of them cared that he is trying to overthrow the government. Why would they care if he raped someone ??? They are all trying to take away women's rights. They consider women second class citizens.

Response to Cracklin Charlie (Reply #1) Fri Jul 15, 2022, 05:34 PM 4. Could be. The person contacted their lawyer, who contacted the J6 Committee. I don't think Trump is worried about the ketchup massacre, though, as it is unlikely the Committee is seeking additional testimony about that. They seem far more focused on his criminal behaviors. Love her or not ...
Response to iemanja (Reply #11) Tue Jul 12, 2022, 11:21 PM 24. Same here. That was when I knew what people mean when they talk about feeling gutted. That was exactly how I felt, like someone had ripped me open and pulled my insides out and there was this bottomless pit where they used to be. I felt empty and hollow. I was SO sure we were going to have our first Madame President. Losing that would have been devastating no matter who the other candidate was, but THIS candidate? ARGH.
****1/6 Committee Hearings Day 7, thread FOUR****
Response to NewHendoLib (Reply #1) Tue Jul 12, 2022, 03:54 PM 113. OK, but... I was wondering who the woman behind Ayres was--the woman in the light blue suit. I wondered because she had a sneer on her face as Ayres spoke. As I watched her, I said to myself who the hell is this? Later she was identified by one of the committee members as being Ayres' wife. I don't know how to account for that sneer. Body language belies words.
News engagement plummets as Americans tune out
Tue Jul 12, 2022, 10:23 AM https://www.axios.com/2022/07/12/news-media-readership-ratings-2022 The best part of statistics like these, anyone can read anything into them according to personal politics and taste. Everybody's happy! My current avoidance with news organizations is how dense and erratic the news cycle has become. One story dominates for a day or so. Forgotten. Dominates. Forgotten. "MOST IMPORTANT THING EVER!!!!" Forgotten perhaps by end of day.
This, my friends, is what keeps me on edge
Response to Siwsan (Original post) Tue Jul 12, 2022, 09:44 AM 8. Actually, I think of them as targets Don't get me wrong they need to be held accountable for their actions. But Nazis, GOPers, White supremacists, Hate Groups Klan members target vulnerable people to convert to their craziness much like religion does. Out of 350 million Americans these weak minded, susceptible and easily manipulated were targeted to convert to the Trump religion.
Make sure you didn't miss the updated hearing time tomorrow.
Response to milestogo (Reply #3) Mon Jul 11, 2022, 08:38 PM 4. You're welcome! It would have been a pain for me to wake up at 7 only to find out it had been postponed for 3 hours -- so I figured there were others like me. Reply to this post Back to top Alert abuse Link here Permalink
Watching @PeteButtigieg refuse to step into traps laid for him by standard shallow media
Response to In It to Win It (Original post) Sun Jul 3, 2022, 11:27 AM 7. Boom! Buttigieg gives the perfect answer to the question of late-term abortions without hesitation of hiccup. This is the boogie-man question that gets thrown out there with every debate. It's meant to stop the conversations cold. Buttigieg provides the template, clearly, directly that yes, even the tragedy and heartache of a late-term abortion rests with the mother, family and physician.
Great illustration is gracing the week's cover of Courrier International:
Response to kpete (Original post) Sun Jul 3, 2022, 11:46 AM 4. I hate it! Because itís so true. This really must stop. There is really no way that American women are going to put up with this nonsense. Not to mention the fact that every woman would practically have to be assigned a law enforcement officer at birth just to enforce their reproductive agenda. They are just trying to get us to fight each other. Donít oblige them. Eyes on the prize.

PELOS! - Receives Communion From Pope
bearing on anything relating to government in the USA. Religion and government need to be kept completely separate. It's not a win to need to look to the Pope's actions or whatever occurs in the Vatican for approval or encouragement. That church can do what it likes (within the limits of secular and physical law) - both in Rome and in San Francisco. If the Pope and Cardinals cannot agree on something and want to contest that issue within the Catholic Church, good for them.
The Republicans official response - and Rep. Eric Swalwell's reply
Response to Pluvious (Original post) Tue Jun 28, 2022, 05:51 PM 9. Did ffg write that for gop bc it sure sounds like the odious oaf, or ..was it doofous McCarthy dictating for the moron? Either way, they can't take this stance forever J6C are closing in on GOP circle of traitors directly involved in planning of the coup d'etat. For now they're playing frumpys and or the typical GOP play..the know nothing about anything game --what riot? There's no there there.

Response to Ilsa (Reply #26) Mon Jun 27, 2022, 03:51 PM 42. America's biggest -- BY FAR! -- zionist organization is the Republican Party. Sheldon Abramson and his wife famously gave (give!) $20M checks to promote zionism, but not to any Jewish organization (all tiny and comparatively powerless in comparison) -- to the giant, enormously powerful, strongly zionist Republican Party.
Here's the thing, guys..........
Response to Hugin (Reply #11) Mon Jun 27, 2022, 09:33 AM 27. Fat chance This delusional freak used ridiculous dark age witch hunter claims as the foundation for his attack on all our citizens in his desire to "put women back in their place" (paraphrase) as his insane thoughts about religion demand. Do you think such a zealot will ever retire? He is also much harder to impeach than Thomas.
Most Americans think Supreme Court will limit birth control and same-sex marriage
Response to Maraya1969 (Reply #4) Mon Jun 27, 2022, 02:49 AM 5. I think the Party should be very clear in communicating its specific plan of action to the public Party leaders need to tell the public exactly what is needed. If we're not going to get rid of the filibuster for abortion rights, be clear with the public that we need 60 senators to pass an abortion rights bill. Without that, we won't be able to pass abortion rights.

Robert Morse, Impish Tony-Winning Comedy Star, Is Dead at 90

Not all Western companies sever ties to Russia over Ukraine

Pence in a nutshell -
Sat Feb 5, 2022, 10:26 AM kpete (68,538 posts) Mike Pence was surrounded by a conspiracy to end democracy in America. He didn’t call the FBI. He didn’t alert the public. He waited to see if it would succeed. When it was clear it would fail, at the last minute he threw in with the winning side.
Sooo. Broke into a neighbor's house the other day
Sat Feb 5, 2022, 08:59 AM Roland99 (52,431 posts) I’d been standing outside their house with a few friends. We hadn’t been seeing eye to eye and had some differences of opinion. We’d just finished building a gallows. Cuz. Why not? My neighbor wasn’t coming outside so me and a few others smashed his windows, kicked in his doors, stole some files and souvenirs Neighbor was p i s s e d Not sure why.
Maybe THIS is why Mike Pence made that speech today:

Do you prefer Jim Acosta or Brianna Keilar in CNN's 9pm slot?
It seems like Brianna Keilar and Jim Acosta are taking turns anchoring that slot. I love Brianna and it would be nice to see her on prime time since I haven't been able to watch her morning show. Jim, on the other hand, is on an entirely new level now. 😍 It seems like he's all out of f's, so he has the edge. And did he change his voice too?? It seems a lot deeper now. Maybe they can continue taking turns?
I had two strokes last week
Fri Jan 28, 2022, 11:43 AM The Blue Flower (4,856 posts) I was out in frigid (low teens) temps pumping air into my car tires. i suddenly had a stabbing pain over my right eye, which I thought was due to my sinuses reacting to the cold. When I got home a short time later, I found I couldn't get my left hand to type properly. I attributed that to the cold as well, because my hands got super cold inside my gloves. I then had a lingering headache all weekend and felt brain foggy.

Early Morning Thoughts on "The Music Man" and Systemic Racism
Last edited Sun Jan 9, 2022, 03:05 PM - Edit history (1) Over here in the Lounge's Happy Movies thread, someone reminded me about the 1962 film of Meredith Willson's 1957 Broadway hit "The Music Man." All my life, it seems, it's made me happy to re-watch that film, watch clips of the best musical numbers, attend any live performances within reach, etc.
California twins born just 15 minutes apart, but in different years
Response to Brother Buzz (Reply #9) Tue Jan 4, 2022, 06:55 PM 10. Oh, yes, but even better to belong at meetings like those. Next lifetime. :) Can't agree dysfunctionality is really just subjective when someone keeps locking stray animals in cupboards and forgetting them, or more commonly can't hold a job consistently enough to pay for food and shelter because of chronic depression. Like pornography, it's subjective but you know it when you see it.

Oprah Winfrey is as much a fraud as the ones she brought into the spotlight.
Wed Dec 29, 2021, 03:58 PM tenderfoot (6,644 posts) We're talking Joel Osteen, James Frey, Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Suze Orman, etc. and the rest of her "magical thinking" bullshit. Personally, I was never a fan. Much like Trump, I've always felt that she was foisted upon us. Afternoon talk shows were great until she hit the scene. I adored Phil Donahue. His show was always intelligent and thought provoking. Then comes Oprah with her fluff crap and the genre went down hill from there. BFD, she gives away cars.
I won caregiver of the quarter for the southeast region.
Thu Dec 9, 2021, 02:31 PM Lunabell (2,893 posts) Last year my home health office gave me caregiver of the year. It was nice to be recognized at home. They sent the information and a nice letter about me to the corporate office and the company recognized me for this quarter. It comes with a little bonus, a plaque and my picture in the news letter. It also puts me in the running for caregiver of the year for my whole corporation.
Low-profile heiress who 'played a strong role' in financing Jan. 6 rally is thrust into spotlight
Source: Washington Post Eight days before the Jan. 6 rally in Washington, a little-known Trump donor living thousands of miles away in the Tuscan countryside quietly wired a total of $650,000 to three organizations that helped stage and promote the event. The lack of fanfare was typical of Julie Fancelli, the 72-year-old daughter of the founder of the Publix grocery store chain.
