Scott Wright Passing
Just learned that Scott Wright of Pinckneyville Illinois has passed. Scott was a Model 12 genius. He could look and stroke a M12 and quickly tell you what was wrong. I do not have more details at this time, was hoping that perhaps someone on here could add details for all of us. Regards, Fred
Official Looking for a Campsite at the 2025 Grand Thread.
If you are looking for a campsite for this years Grand American or will not be able to attend and have a campsite to offer then this is the thread to use for that purpose. 1. First contact the ATA for a site. 2. If the ATA cannot help you then post here that you are as members at times are not using their site for the full Grand or not able to attend and would consider allowing use of their campsite.
2024 Grand American Memories...Top 10...what is your top memory?
1. Shot my first registered event with my brother in the Winchester Singles...we tied! We both win! It was so special. He is in Florida, myself in Kansas...we see each other so seldom. Think I will be heading to Florida for the Southern Grand and Florida State Shoot next year. We didn't think to get a picture together sadly.... 2. Shooting with an incredible squad. @pheasantmaster, @timb99, @Shortpants and @RangerDanger520 (see pic below).
Can't set the release
With some reluctance....posting this to see what help exists, or if anyone else has overcome this issue. I mount the gun then set the trigger. Unbeknownst to me, I had a release trigger sear issue that caused it to release the hook as I set the release thus releasing the hammer. Sometimes it happened as soon as I set the trigger. It is getting repaired by Phillip. No problem there. The issue is that after a few of these I was unable to set the trigger. That went on for months.
Southwest Grand was fun
Got to make a few new friends and had a great time at the Southwest Grand held at the KTA (Kansas Trapshooters Association) in Sedgwick KS last week. There were a couple rain days, but cool temps prevailed as well as enjoying a great facility run by amazing volunteers giving their all. Our squad was so good to shoot with: Martin Wilbur, Jim Cooper, Mark Crist and Jon Marsh. Devi Wilbur filled in for Jim on the weekend.
Tom Wilkinson Barrel Tuning Pattern Results (Not a Test)
Joined Jan 29, 1998 · 398 Posts Discussion Starter · #1 · 2 d ago (Edited) Had Wilkinson do my barrels and chokes. K-80 Trap Special with chokes tuned to match the barrel. Three chokes (.35, .25 and .15) at 33 yards (why 33?....it was as far back as I could get given where the board is and a fence. So I really was at the 'back fence'). I wish I still had the pictures from before the work, but do not. Yes, I shoot a high gun, that is not the issue...it is how even the patterns are.

Poll: Should the ATA record and share the Championship Event Shoot-offs?
Joined Jan 29, 1998 · 337 Posts Discussion Starter · #1 · a moment ago In another thread it was noted that the poster would like to see the pre-shot routine of a particular championship shooter. That got me thinking (which my wife says is dangerous to all) I am surprised the ATA (If not the ATA, then who?) does not video record the Grand Championship shoot-off events to share.....I watched the ISSF shoot-offs from Morocco yesterday on YouTube and found it interesting to watch.
