Born and raised in Texas, Travis Herberger is a painter. His medium of choice is watercolor which allows for him to be delicate and every which way he can imagine. He also uses figures in his paintings because the people are those who make the place that much more interesting for him as well! There's an element of unpredictability with painting - there will always be something new when you look at it again. For him, watercolor is perfect medium since it reflects its surroundings just like a mirror would do. It has unpredictable properties that allow Travis to have little control over what happens during the painting process but still feel pleased by the end result although things may get rearranged here or there as needed. He chooses urban settings where lots of colors are available.
Travis Herberger started to draw in the past 5 years, and he finds it goes hand-in-hand with his painting. He takes photos of locations, and then just sketches what's around him. He is a part of a local group that is meeting up weekly to paint a live model at each session.
Travis Herberger has been infatuated with travel since he was a kid. Now, as an adult and artist, his paintings have taken him to many parts of the world. His experiences from these travels have inspired his unique style that is full of color and captures the essence of each place he visited.
