Here's Where to Find Value in Muddled Titans Backfield
What They're Saying: Don't Be Shocked if They Split Justin Graver of The Music City Audible podcast: "I think it's gonna be a 1A/1B situation, potentially alternating drives. Pollard probably handles majority of goal line work. I think both backs will see plenty of targets.
NFL Week 6 Sunday Night Football Showdown Playbook: New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills DFS Picks
We wrap up the Week 6 action on Sunday with a battle for New York. The New York Giants head upstate to Buffalo for a duel on Sunday Night Football and while this game is shaping up to be an absolute beating, we still indulge in the Showdown slate to build the bankroll or try to hit big with the right game script. With both teams trending in opposite directions, and the fact that primetime games have been weak this year, I’m not quite sure what to make of this matchup.
2022 NFL OTA Report: Should You Avoid Javonte Williams in Fantasy Football At His ADP?
It might still be May but I can almost feel the cool autumn air already as actual football activities begin across the nation. The 2022 NFL draft is firmly in our rearview and the first session of organized team activities (OTAs) is well underway. The dates vary from team to team but the vast majority either have had their first week already or are starting it this week. That means the NFL news, injuries, and rumors season is upon us.
2022 NFL Draft: NFC East Draft Grades & Fantasy Football Impact
It's time to look toward the upcoming fantasy football season following the 2022 NFL Draft. Let's hand out some draft grades for the NFC East teams. It's important to know the incoming NFL rookie class – whether you're participating in fantasy football mock drafts, preparing for dynasty rookie drafts, or drafting best ball fantasy teams.
2022 NFL Draft: AFC South Draft Grades & Fantasy Football Impact
The 2022 NFL Draft may be over, but it's time to turn our attention to the upcoming football season. Let's take a deep dive into the AFC South teams and hand out draft grades. It's important to know about the notable incoming NFL rookies whether you're taking part in fantasy football mock drafts, competing in fantasy football best ball leagues, or are preparing for your dynasty rookie drafts.
2022 Dynasty Fantasy Football: Round 1 Rookie Mock Draft
The dust has settled on the NFL draft and dynasty rookie draft season is about to pick up in full swing. As I wrote in my pre-draft previews, NFL draft capital is an important indicator of future success, and we now have that piece of data in our holster. While it’s critical for us to consider when a player gets taken, a core dynasty tenant is not to overvalue where a player ended up in terms of team surroundings. This is dynasty, and you should be in it for the long term.
2022 NFL Mock Draft 2.0: Where Will WRs Jameson Williams, Garrett Wilson and Drake London End Up?
The 2022 NFL Draft is less than a week away and it's time to focus in on how each team will use their first-round picks on the top college football players. Which NFL teams will draft Malik Willis or Kenny Pickett as their next franchise quarterbacks? Which wide receiver will be the first off the board – Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams or Drake London? Who will the Jacksonville Jaguars take at No. 1 overall?
2022 Fantasy Football Underdog Best Ball ADP Rankings: Value Running Backs
NFL free agency news has slowed dramatically but we are still a full week away from the 2022 NFL draft. So now is the best time to wrap up our deep offseason best ball series where we identify sneaky values that we see in the rankings of early best ball drafts. We’ve hit on quarterbacks, tight ends, and wide receivers already so now it’s time to look at everyone’s favorite position in fantasy football - the running backs.
2022 NFL Draft: NFC West Team Needs
The approach to the 2022 NFL draft is set to be VERY different from team to team. The Los Angeles Rams for instance already decided to forgo their picks in favor of trying to win the Super Bowl immediately - which they did. The Seattle Seahawks on the other hand just did the opposite and shipped off their starter quarterback Russell Wilson for picks.
2022 NFL Draft: Quarterback Breakdown for Dynasty Fantasy Football
We continue our pre-draft positional preview with quarterbacks, who are often an afterthought in traditional dynasty rookie drafts. In 1-QB leagues, even in a good quarterback draft, I don’t even think about them until the second round. Superflex leagues are becoming more and more popular to increase the value of the position relative to the other skill positions with more starting slots, and I have to say I really enjoy the format and the added dynamic it brings to rookie drafts.
2022 Fantasy Football Underdog Best Ball ADP Rankings: Value Tight Ends
The NFL offseason is kicking into full gear and the fantasy football season never sleeps, especially with the surge of best ball fantasy football. In this article, we are going to be looking at some of my favorite value tight ends in best ball drafts based on their Underdog Fantasy ADPs! The tight end is a unique position. You need to find the right combination of talent, scheme, and opportunity to have fantasy success.
Tom Brady Unretires and Returns to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tom Brady broke the internet Sunday evening by announcing that he is coming out of retirement and will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 NFL season. That’s right folks. After two months spent laboriously spending time with his family, the GOAT himself will once again grace us with his presence on the gridiron. And, as we thank our lucky stars that we were able to survive this drought, we can only speculate as to why.
2022 NFL Free Agency - Miami Dolphins Team Needs
In this series, we are going to hit on each team and give you a brief rundown of how they look going into free agency, what moves are at their disposal, and what you might expect from the team. NFL free agency begins during the legal tampering period on Monday, March 14, 2022, and then players can officially sign on March 16th. All salary numbers within the article are courtesy of OverTheCap.com.
WR/CB Matchup Report: Conference Championships
Welcome to the weekly wide receiver/cornerback breakdown! We will review each of the outside matchups, as well as my three favorite matchups in the slot. Then, below the charts in this article, I break down my elite, affordable, and bargain picks for DFS purposes. We are on to the Conference Championships, so the slate is just two games, but that doesn’t change the chance to win some big DFS money.
2021 NFL Draft Guide: Homer Corner - Denver Broncos
In the spirit of beat-writers fighting over who broke the news first, allow me to say, I’ve probably known Howard Bender and read his work longer than anyone reading this piece right now. I remember when I found his first fantasy baseball blog, RotoBuzz, on BlogSpot and he’s had me coming back for more ever since.
2021 NFL Draft Guide: Homer Corner - Kansas City Chiefs
Dynasty. That word has a lot of heft to it, especially in sports. Just like the television drama though, the Chiefs are living up to the branding.
2021 NFL Draft Guide: Homer Corner - San Francisco 49ers
2020 sucked for everyone, but it really sucked for us 49ers fans. Fresh off a Super Bowl let down in February, the fanbase was rabid for the season to start. It all unraveled with one trip to New York where two games were played. One player after another was injured in those two games and the hope of the season spiraled like a flushed toilet. The team still managed to win six games somehow and we found we had a budding star in Brandon Aiyuk.
2021 NFL Draft Guide: Ultimate TE Draft Guide - Could Be Elite
Alright time to get into the meat of the Ultimate Tight End Guide. In the first article we gave you the Introduction and the Elite. In this article we are going to look at the players who have elite upside based on the criteria we covered last article. Now, I’m not sure about you, but I’m the kind of guy who isn’t going to watch the sequel to a movie until I’ve seen the first one.
2021 NFL Draft Guide: Overview of Coaching Schemes
Over the years, the growth of statistical analysis in fantasy football has been incredible to watch with numerous web sites digging into some pretty in-depth metrics to use when analyzing the performance of both NFL teams and their players. However, as we have routinely pointed out, there are many pitfalls when looking at year-to-year numbers. Things change at a rapid rate in the NFL.
Welcome To The 2021 NFL Draft Guide
Welcome to the 2021 Fantasy Alarm Living NFL Draft Guide! It’s amazing, the difference a year makes, right? I remember writing this Welcome Letter last year wondering if we were even going to have a full NFL season and here in 2021, we’re back to our normal summer activities and gearing up for an expanded 18-week football season. I am both relieved and excited as I am sure all of you are as well.
Fantasy Football RB Preview: Dynasty Rookie RB Concepts
We just told you last week why your rookie tight end might not break out right away. And in that article we briefly introduced the idea of the running back “room” as opposed to linear depth charts. But we didn’t really get into WHY the modern NFL features a lot of backfields that split up the work rather than straight line depth charts with a starter and backup. So guess what sports fans? Let’s do that right meow. Will you make a goddamn play, Mittens?
2021 NFL Draft: Mock Draft 3.0
The 2021 NFL Draft is just days away and, unsurprisingly, the rumors and hot takes are swirling ahead of Thursday night! Which quarterback will the 49ers draft at No. 3 overall? Which teams will trade up (or down) in the first round? Who will your favorite team select?
2021 NFL Draft Guide: Coaches Corner
For years, we at Fantasy Alarm have preached the value of knowing every NFL team's coaching hierarchy as well as the systems, both offensive and defensive, they employ. A player could have outstanding talent, but if he doesn't fit well with his coach's offensive scheme, he is unlikely to produce at a level commensurate with his talents. Take a look at the career-trajectory for running back Jordan Howard.
Thrive Fantasy: Super Bowl LV Prop Picks
Published: Feb 07, 2021 Welcome to the Thrive Fantasy breakdown for Super Bowl LV! If you missed the introductory piece and are not familiar with Thrive Fantasy or their prop games, you should take a quick look at Howard Bender's introductory piece for a real quick tutorial. It’s not complicated at all, as you are merely selecting the over or under on a player prop and scoring points for correct answers, but just in case you’re new to the space, it’s always good to brush up.
NFL Playoffs DFS: Rams/Packers Showdown Slate
Spread: Packers -6.5 O/U: 45.5 Money Line: Packers -315; Rams +270 Betting Trends: Green Bay is 5-1 straight up in its last six games against the Rams. Green Bay is 4-2 ATS in its last six games. The Rams are 6-3 against the spread (ATS) in their last nine games. The total has hit the under in four of the Rams' last five games.
Fantasy Football Stock Watch: Week 16 (Video)
Published: Dec 29, 2020 Week 16 got off to a ferocious start for those sporting Alvin Kamara on their fantasy football teams and he picked a good week to rush in 6 touchdowns with many fantasy players in their championship match up. The Aaron Rodgers -Davante Adams connection was once again a smashing success and even David Johnson put on his best performance of the season. It wasn't so hot for another veteran running back as Le'Veon Bell was not utilized as much as expected and barely produced.
NFL DFS Week 15: Monday Night Showdown Slate
Published: Dec 21, 2020 Welcome to the Monday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 15! Before we start, please allow me to reiterate that while we all love having a little skin in the game, these showdown slates are basically lottery tickets. Sure, there are times when the chalk hits and everyone shares in the prizes, but more often than not, you need that random, differentiated yourself from the herd dart-throw to hit in order to claim that top prize.
NFL Red Zone Report: Week 14
Published: Dec 18, 2020 It was a mixed bag of performances in Week 14. There were strong showings from teams in terms of scoring and big wins, however not all of that offense came from inside the 20. There was also more spreading the ball around this past week as opposed to a single focus of the red zone offense for each team, as you’ll see further down the piece.
NFL DFS Week 15: Thursday Night Showdown Slate
Published: Dec 17, 2020 Welcome to the Thursday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 15!
Fantasy Football Injury Report: December 1
Welcome back to the Fantasy Alarm Early-Week NFL Injury Report for Week 13 of the NFL season! It has been a crazy one up to this point, but we have to finish strong! Let’s discuss some of the important statuses that we should be monitoring heading into the latter part of the week. Josh Jacobs RB, LV (Ankle) Jacobs sustained an ankle injury in the Raiders Week 12 loss to the Falcons and now is listed as “questionable” to play in their upcoming Week 13 game against the Jets on Sunday.
Thrive Fantasy: NFL Week 12 Prop Picks
Hope you didn’t fill up on Thanksgiving Day football, because we have another week at Thrive Fantasy? NFL Week 12 is looking like it could be a fun week, so let’s add to it with some more money won in prop game contests! If you missed the introductory piece and are not familiar with Thrive Fantasy or their prop games, you should take a quick look at my introductory piece from last week for a real quick tutorial.
NFL DFS Week 11: Thursday Night Showdown Slate
Published: Nov 19, 2020 Welcome to the Thursday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 11! Well now this is fixing to be one heck of a game, right? Arizona and Seattle are both 6-3 atop the NFC West and both offenses are high-octane, as evidenced by the 56.5 total on tonight’s action. The question tonight is the expected game flow. Weather may be a factor and the Seahawks, normally a run-first team, are going to want to slow the pace down and keep Kyler Murray off the field.
NFL Weekly Survivor Plays: Week 10
It came down to another Joey Slye record attempting miss last week as the Chiefs prevailed over the Panthers to give us the win in week 9. The highly picked teams all won with Nick Folk giving the Patriots the last-second win over the Jets on Monday night as the clincher. The only upset that may have cost a few teams were the Dolphins over the Cardinals. We move on to week 10. In my main pool, there are about 20% of teams left without a loss.
NFL WR/CB Match-ups: Week 6
Published: Oct 17, 2020 Welcome to the weekly wide receiver/cornerback breakdown! We will review each of the outside matchups, as well as my 10 favorite matchups in the slot. Then, below the charts in this article, I break down my five absolute favorite matchups. This article is also critical for daily players, as this will help you gain a competitive advantage when setting your lineups. The wide receiver landscape is changing rapidly due to injuries and unexpected play both good and bad.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 6
We should anticipate another quiet-ish week on waivers. The news of Dak Prescott ’s injury definitely sucks and makes Andy Dalton a must-add in two-quarterback/superflex leagues (and possibly a streamer in standard one-quarterback leagues) plus a few wide receivers had some noteworthy weeks as well. But it was largely a quiet week for running backs to emerge off the waiver wire. Honestly, this could be a great week to possibly see who gets dropped in your league.
NFL DFS Week 5: Sunday Night Showdown Slate
Published: Oct 11, 2020 Welcome to the Sunday Night Showdown Slate for NFL Week 5! What a whirlwind of the morning, right? Broncos/Patriots being cancelled has sent the fantasy world into a tizzy, we’re still not sure about the Titans/Bills game with another coach testing positive for Tennessee and waiver wire cupboards have been cleaned out.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 5
Well we’re back to navigating the injury waters once again. Nick Chubb and Austin Ekeler are both going to miss multiple weeks and the downside is that their backups (Kareem Hunt and Joshua Kelley) are likely unavailable in your league. In the case of Kelley, just double check and see if he’s still floating on Waivers. He is the priority if that’s the case. Aside from these two there are intriguing plays on Waivers, but there aren’t any league winners this week.
Fantasy Football Hot Takes: NFL Week 4
NFL Week 4 felt like we had some regression to the mean in a sense. Within seconds we saw injuries to Austin Ekeler and Nick Chubb . Mike Evans had to leave the field for a bit after getting tackled awkwardly and Chris Carson had to be evaluated for a concussion. Kenyan Drake was a massive whiff by the entire fantasy industry. How he had zero targets in a game where Arizona was chasing points is just laughable. Week 4 felt very par for the course in 2020.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 4
Week 3 didn’t have the abundance on injuries that we saw in the first two weeks. The Bears have lost Tarik Cohen for the season, Chris Carson may miss a game or two with a sprained knee, and Dallas Goedert is going to miss a few weeks as well. But we don’t have as many BIG injuries coming out of Week 3. And with that, we don’t have any must-add guys coming off Waivers.

2020 NFL Draft Guide: Identifying Problem Players
Published: Jul 07, 2020 Coming into draft season, evaluating players is so much more than just “I like this guy” or I don’t like this guy. You will inevitably have reasons for your admiration or disdain of a particular player, but being able to identify problem players is pivotal to your draft strategy.
Fantasy Football QB Preview - Daniel Jones - The Next Star?
“With the sixth pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the New York Giants select, Daniel Jones”. With that statement at last year’s draft by Roger Goodell, Giants fans screamed at their televisions, and other football fans scoffed at how stupid the pick was. Surely, the Giants could have waited for their later first round pick to get Jones who wasn’t touted by anyone as going that high in the draft. Jones was written off before he even went to training camp, and the pick was seen as a failure.
Fantasy Football IDP Preview: Multi-position Eligibility - Part Three
This is the third and final installment in the series of articles discussing multi-position IDP available in Yahoo! fantasy football leagues. We go back to the LB/DL realm of dual-eligibility players on defense, discussing some lower tier players that still have some utility in later rounds, mostly in deeper IDP leagues. As noted, the dual-position status is only in Yahoo football, with ESPN, CBS and other platform opting to use an IDP’s primary position only for draft purposes.
Fantasy Football D/ST Preview: Late-Season Streamers
It’s never too early to get a feel for what defenses you want to target come fantasy playoff time. But this comes with a caveat; way too much can, and will, change as the season progresses. Last week’s preview focused on early-season streamers at the D/ST position and even as we’re four months out from the start of the season, a lot could change and impact those teams. So while we’ll identify some teams to target for Weeks 14-16, take it with a grain of salt.
Fantasy Football IDP Preview: Rookie Defensive Linemen
Published: May 10, 2020 This week we continue to document the new additions to the IDP ranks in the NFL, focusing on defensive linesmen that have the true potential to be fantasy relevant players this season, whenever it begins. Two of the top DLs taken early in this year’s draft project to slot in as defensive tackles, so take note if you play in a league that requires DT positions in the starting lineup.
