How is social media changing news?
Every website is competing to tell the exact same stories in the exact same way, only hoping to be at the top of the Facebook algorithm.

Why did you become a journalist?
In my experience, I've only been called a journalist whenever someone thinks I'm doing it wrong.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
We didn't have a high school newspaper, but I did write movie reviews for my middle-school paper. (Two stars for "The First Wives Club.")
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I really enjoyed my column for Decider called Was It Good for the Gays, which looked at queer identity as seen through popular film.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Just do the work: don't worry too much about asking how to do it, because it gets in the way of actually getting it done. Take the chance!
What's the best pitch you ever got?
There's no way I would have turned down the chance to interview Joey Lawrence.
Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?
The New Yorker.
